About Us
Across Texas, the need for timely, ethical, and well-supported outpatient mental health care continues to grow. Too often, patients encounter long wait times, fragmented care, or practice settings that do not give providers the structure, support, or clinical partnership needed to deliver this work well.
Founded by clinicians in 2011, Mindful Therapy Group was built on the idea that improving access to mental health care starts with supporting the providers who deliver it. As we expand into Texas, we're bringing a model grounded in structure, support, and clinical partnership—creating an environment where clinicians can build fulfilling practices while helping meet the growing need for behavioral health care across the state.
Physicians who are interested in leadership, mentorship, and practice-building will have the opportunity to grow their own patient panel while helping expand access to behavioral health care across Texas. In this role, they will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, provide physician oversight for PMHNPs, and support the development of a scalable, high-quality outpatient care model.
Position Summary
The physician will provide psychiatric evaluation and medication management services for patients with ADHD and related behavioral health conditions in a structured outpatient setting. The caseload is expected to be weighted toward ADHD treatment and Schedule II prescribing, supported by established clinical protocols, documentation standards, and compliance workflows.
Responsibilities
- Perform initial psychiatric evaluations and follow‐up medication management visits.
- Diagnose and treat ADHD and commonly associated conditions, including anxiety, depression, sleep issues, and other behavioral health concerns within scope.
- Prescribe and manage Schedule II controlled substances in accordance with applicable federal law, DEA requirements, and Texas prescribing rules.
- Review prescription monitoring data and complete required documentation for controlled substance prescribing.
- Follow clinic policies related to treatment agreements, refill requests, follow‐up intervals, diversion prevention, and other controlled substance safeguards.
- Coordinate care with therapists, primary care clinicians, and support staff as needed.
- If applicable, provide physician delegation and clinical oversight consistent with Texas rules governing prescriptive authority and supervision.
Qualifications
- MD or DO with active and unrestricted Texas medical license.
- Board‐certified or board‐eligible in Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, or a related specialty with relevant outpatient behavioral health experience.
- Experience treating ADHD and managing stimulant medications in an outpatient setting preferred.
- Working knowledge of federal and Texas requirements related to Schedule II prescribing, documentation, and telehealth prescribing when applicable.
- Strong clinical judgment, clear documentation, and comfort practicing within structured prescribing policies.
Engagement Model
- Independent contractor (1099) position, not a W‐2 employment role.
- Flexible schedule based on agreed clinical sessions or visit volume.
- Contractor responsible for individual tax obligations and any contractor‐specific business arrangements.
- Practice provides patient demand, scheduling support, clinical infrastructure, and administrative support.
Compensation
- 1099 compensation model based on completed visits, which is up to $370/hour.
- Rates for new evaluations and follow‐up visits may be structured separately.
- Payment terms, malpractice coverage expectations, and scheduling minimums will be outlined in the contractor agreement.
Practice Environment
- Outpatient behavioral health, private practice setting.
- ADHD‐focused patient population with a substantial medication management component.
- Structured workflows for prior authorizations, refill coordination, and patient follow‐up.
- Opportunity to work with a consistent caseload in a setting built around efficient outpatient medication management.
