Place of Performance: FCI Bastrop 1341 Highway 95 North Bastrop, Texas 78602


Schedule: The contractor will normally provide eight (8) hours per day, 5 days per

week, excluding Federal Holidays. Work hours will normally be between 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM with a 30-minute

unpaid lunch break. The contractor shall not normally exceed 40 hours per week, without prior approval from the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) or the Administrative Contracting Officer (ACO), on a day-by-day basis.


Description of Duties: All duties shall be performed in accordance with standards and methods generally accepted within the field of Dental Hygienist Services, and in compliance with all Federal and State policy and regulations. The contractor shall adhere to all standards and regulations associated with the Joint Commission (JC) and American Correctional Association Foundation/Core Standards for Adult Correctional Institutions. The contractor’s performance shall be monitored by the COR.:

The contractor shall provide the following Dental Hygienist services, which include, but are not limited to the

following:

• Provide dental prophylaxis, other preventive oral health services, and other periodontal services on

AIC who are referred by the dental staff

• Provide thorough individualized oral hygiene instructions to each patient

• Monitor oral hygiene and periodontal condition on each patient seen for dental prophylaxis

• Complete necessary dental x-rays as specified by the dentist

• Provide oral health care services such as suture removal, administration of local anesthetic, and other

services (if trained)

• Sterilize instruments used for prophylaxis and other instruments as specified by the dental staff

• Oversee AIC health service’s workers’ housekeeping and infection control procedures

• Perform necessary paperwork related to scheduling patients for dental prophylaxis as directed by the

dental staff

• Track scheduling of patient care

• Collect and track data and enter data into the agency’s electronic system

• Must have knowledge and experience in maintaining medical records and confidentiality

• Any other reasonable tasks needed by the health services unit, or assigned by supervisory staff, that

are related to health services

• Knowledgeable of and follows BOP, Dental Service, and institutional policies to include but not limited

to the Employee Standards of Conduct, security, infection control, regulated waste management, and

data management

• The physical demands of this position are largely sedentary in nature, however, long periods of

standing, walking, sitting, and bending are required.

• Occasionally, the contractor will be required to lift boxes and equipment not exceed 35 pounds


Education and Experience: The Contractor is required to be certified/licensed as a Dental Hygienist in the State of Texas and must submit a resume, photocopies of their license and/or board certification, photocopies of their dental certifications for verification purposes. Dental radiology certification required; anesthesia certification preferred, yet optional. A minimum of three years of experience is preferred yet not required.
