SHOP SUPPORT ASSOCIATE
Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Support Associate must be a self-starter with a generalist mind-set. The preferred candidate will behave daily as a utility worker who is flexible to support the Machine Shop operation and the CNC Machinists in semi-technical but non-the-less important tasks such as a Machine Operator, Material Handler and QA Inspection. The employee has an appetite to learn and grow into increasingly more complex and challenging Machinist tasks, applying their abilities in a fast-paced, production environment with both Mill and Lathe applications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for collaborating with and accepting mentorship a team of Programmers, Machinists, and skilled Operators, following performance expectations based on objectives set in a deadline sensitive work environment
- Operates manual machines such as saws, hand-held tools, electrical tools, and/or pneumatic tools.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid fork truck license
- Attention to detail when receiving material or parts into the shop
- Maintain material inventory with proper labeling and data entry
- Ability to complete parts to print with minimal consultation or assistance
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Skilled at parts inspection, check parts to tolerance as specified
- Is an active participant in the overall Lean initiative.
- Promotes and supports good housekeeping and productivity. Promotes "6S" by monitoring the overall cleanliness and organization in responsible areas/depts
- Adopts a personal commitment to excellence and actively supports and participates in the Total Quality process.
- Engaged in a teamwork culture
- Self-motivated and results-oriented; able to follow and meet specific goals and performance deliverables
- Be aware of quality standards and ability to identify and explain defects in products
- Provide on-going expertise in support of cost reduction analysis of current product/projects as well as new business
- Possesses skills necessary to create and troubleshoot programming as well as resolve process issues on the shop floor
- Participate in all continuous improvement programs by offering suggestions and exhibiting initiative in areas within direct control
- Follows and enforces a daily safety conscious work effort. Proactively manage work-related injuries, safety concerns and(or) near miss incident(s)
- Must have a willingness and flexibility to adapt to changing business need, schedules and deadline and perform other essential duties as assigned in support of operational success
- Display a positive attitude and approach challenging details with open-mindedness
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
· Comply with state and federal law safety regulations in addition to Accrotool health, safety and security procedures
· Adhere to company policies and state and federal laws and regulations relating to employment, including promoting a workplace free of discrimination and harassment
COMPETENCIES/QUALIFICATIONS
· Strong computer skills, able to navigate ERP system, MS Work, Excel, Outlook etc.
· Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and machining is highly desirable
· Previous forklift operator experience is preferred
· Effective written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in English
· Independent thinking and sound judgment, accompanied by proven problem solving/analysis skills
· Excellent time management with attention to detail and ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings, possessing excellent spatial relation skills
· Basic mathematics skills

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Minimum of High School diploma accompanied by 1-year manufacturing experience. A position ideally suited for recent graduates of a relevant apprenticeship or an individual seeking a position that lends itself to employer-provided apprenticeship sponsoring.

The successful candidate will be expected to endure constant standing, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling in repetitive motion job tasks requiring continuous eye/hand/foot coordination. Environmental conditions consist of frequent exposure to noise. Up to 50 lb. maximum lifting and carrying on an occasional basis. Team lift is required on lifting over 50 lbs. Up to 1000 lb. maximum pushing and pulling (pallet jacks) on an occasional basis. Moving objects over 1000lbs will require the use of a forklift or motorized pallet jack. Ability to work in a manufacturing shop environment (including hot, cold and/or noisy areas). Must be able to wear required personal protection equipment, such as earplugs, safety glasses, and safety shoes.
