- Comp: $100,000 - $115,000 + 10%
- Location: Irvine, CA
- Ownership: Privately Owned
- Reports to: Controller

Why This Role?

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting construction and development accounting activities across multiple projects and legal entities. This position offers excellent visibility to project operations and opportunities to collaborate directly with project managers, leadership, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle accounting for multiple construction and development projects.
- Oversee job costing, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Oversee AIA G702/G703 billing formats and construction contract compliance.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, project reports, and reconciliations.
- Prepare construction draws, monitor project funding sources, and ensure compliance with financing agreements and contracts.
- Enter and maintain contracts, change orders, and project-related financial data within the accounting system.
- Partner with project managers to review monthly billings and ensure all project costs are accurately captured and allocated.
- Monitor project spending and collaborate with stakeholders to support financial accuracy and cost control initiatives.
- Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Support internal and external audits related to construction projects.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Assist with special projects and other accounting duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CPA-track preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years within construction, development, or project-based accounting.
- Strong understanding of job costing, project accounting, and construction financial management.
- Experience with AIA G702/G703 billing formats and construction contract compliance.
- Knowledge of tracking and analyzing General Conditions and General Requirements costs.
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems, preferably Yardi.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Collaborative team player with the ability to build strong cross-functional relationships.
