Job Summary
The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care in an outpatient clinic under the supervision of a licensed provider. This role supports daily clinical operations and ensures patients receive efficient, high-quality care.
This position is based at a locally owned and operated franchise location. Specific responsibilities and benefits may vary by site.
Responsibilities
- Record vital signs, medical history, and reason for visit; prepare patients for examination
- Educate patients on procedures, treatments, and follow-up care
- Perform ordered tests accurately and promptly
- Administer medications and treatments according to established protocols
- Perform phlebotomy and prepare specimens for in-house or reference lab processing
- Conduct laboratory testing, quality controls, and routine equipment maintenance
- Manage lab results, patient call-backs, and follow-up communication
- Complete drug screenings in accordance with regulatory guidelines
- Administer and document immunizations properly
- Coordinate referrals and obtain service pre-authorizations when needed
- Prepare and maintain exam rooms; clean and sterilize instruments and equipment
- Ensure accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record
- Support additional clinic duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited two-year college or technical school, or
- Six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required
- Spanish-speaking candidates preferred
