Quality & Compliance Specialist (Supplier Quality, Regulatory Compliance & Continuous Improvement)Employment Type: Direct Hire
Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000
Work Schedule: Onsite, Monday through Friday
Location: Elgin, IL.Overview

If you’re energized by solving quality problems before they reach customers—and you’re at home navigating supplier performance, documentation, and regulatory requirements—this role puts you at the center of product integrity across the supply chain. As the Quality & Compliance Specialist, you’ll ensure products sourced, distributed, and sold meet applicable quality standards, customer specifications, and regulatory expectations. You’ll collaborate closely with Purchasing, Sourcing, Operations, Sales, Customer Service, and supplier partners to reduce risk, resolve issues fast, and build scalable systems that improve quality performance over time.

Within your first year, you’ll help deliver meaningful outcomes such as standardized supplier scorecards, a centralized compliance document library, faster responses to customer compliance requests, and executive-ready dashboards that track the metrics that matter.


Required Skills
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • ISO 9001 principles
    • Root Cause Analysis
    • Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA)
    • Supplier audits and supplier performance management
    • Statistical process improvement
    • Quality and compliance documentation practices
    • Packaging materials, including food-contact packaging requirements
    • Product testing and regulatory compliance
  • Technical proficiency with:
    • Microsoft Excel
    • ERP systems
    • Microsoft Office
    • Quality management software
    • Document management systems
  • Core competencies:
    • Exceptional attention to detail
    • Analytical, structured problem-solving
    • Strong organization and project management skills
    • Clear communication and ability to influence without authority
    • Customer-focused mindset, integrity, and accountability

Nice to Have Skills
  • Experience with Tableau
  • Experience with NetSuite
  • Exposure to Lean/continuous improvement initiatives

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent experience), such as:
    • Quality Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Industrial Technology, Business, or similar
  • 3–7 years of experience in Quality Assurance, Compliance, Supplier Quality, or Regulatory Affairs
  • Industry experience preferred in wholesale distribution, packaging, plastics, manufacturing, or industrial products
  • Experience managing supplier quality programs and investigating customer quality complaints

Other Requirements
  • Regulatory compliance familiarity where applicable, including:
    • FDA food contact, Proposition 65, OSHA, EPA, CPSIA, ASTM, REACH, RoHS, TSCA
    • California packaging regulations, EPR requirements, and sustainable packaging initiatives
  • Preferred certifications (not required):
    • ASQ CQE, CQA, CQIA
    • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt
    • ISO 9001 Internal Auditor Certification
  • Physical/Work environment:
    • Ability to work in office and warehouse environments
    • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs
    • Ability to inspect products in warehouse settings
  • Travel:
    • Occasional travel (10–20%) to suppliers, distribution centers, or customer locations
