Receiving Lead
Job Description
Position Summary
The Receiving Lead is responsible for directing daily inbound warehouse operations, coordinating inbound freight arrivals, and maintaining continuous chain-of-custody tracking. You will lead a small team of receiving associates, verify incoming goods against Bills of Lading (BOLs) and purchase orders, manage physical and system-based inventory check-ins, and ensure dock safety and organization.
Key Responsibilities
• Inbound Dock Supervision: Direct daily inbound workflows, prioritize container/trailer unload schedules, and assign dock stations to receiving personnel.
• Inbound Inspection & Verification: Audit incoming shipments against BOLs, packing slips, and POs; verify piece counts, SKU accuracy, unit measurements, and pallet configurations before signing off.
• WMS & Inventory Entry: Utilize handheld barcode scanners and our Warehouse Management System (WMS) to log received items instantly, create receiving discrepancy reports, and assign put-away bin locations.
• OS&D Management: Identify, document, and report any Overages, Shortages, or Damages (OS&D) immediately to management and client account managers, including photo documentation.
• Cross-Functional Logistics: Coordinate with freight carriers, LTL drivers, and warehouse floor managers to ensure smooth dock door turnaround and minimize driver detention times.
• Equipment & Dock Safety: Operate forklifts (sit-down/stand-up) and pallet jacks safely; ensure the inbound receiving dock remains clear, hazards are mitigated, and team members adhere to Thrive 3PL safety standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of inbound warehouse receiving experience in a 3PL or high-volume distribution environment. Prior lead or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
• Equipment Certification: Active forklift operator certification (sit-down, stand-up reach, and electric pallet jack).
• Technical Skills: Experience using WMS platforms, handheld barcode scanners, and basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets for inventory tracking.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk for extended periods (8+ hours), and work in a non-climate-controlled warehouse environment.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, sharp attention to detail, and a proactive problem-solving attitude.

Salary: Base $20.00/hr - $24.00/hr DOE
Annual salary up to $44,950.00 for highly qualified applicants.
