Shop Hand / General Labor – Manufacturing Operations
Pay: $17/hour
Schedule: Rotating shifts
Employment Type: Full-time, non-exempt; overtime may be available
Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable Shop Hand / Material Handler to support daily manufacturing operations. This hands-on position is responsible for moving, staging, loading, and organizing materials throughout the facility while helping ensure production and customer orders stay on schedule.
The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of prior construction, industrial or manufacturing experience, is comfortable operating overhead cranes, follows safety procedures consistently, and can work effectively in a fast-paced shop environment. Training and certification opportunities are available, with the potential for pay increases as additional qualifications are earned.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, organize, and stage incoming raw materials.
- Move materials from production areas to designated staging or storage locations.
- Pull materials and prepare customer orders for shipment.
- Verify material identification, quantities, and order requirements before shipment.
- Assist with loading materials onto trucks and rail equipment.
- Complete routine inspections of overhead crane equipment.
- Maintain accurate material identification and staging practices.
- Communicate with production, shipping, and office personnel as needed.
- Follow all company safety policies, operating procedures, and required PPE guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Assist with basic administrative or coordination tasks when needed.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a construction, manufacturing, industrial, warehouse, or similar environment.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license. (required to enter site)
- Ability to successfully complete a background check and drug screening.
- Willingness to work a rotating schedule.
- Must reside within approximately 20 minutes of the 77015 area.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Remain on your feet and alternate between sitting, standing, walking, and other activities for extended periods.
- Frequently use hands for gripping, handling, and operating tools or equipment.
- Work around moving equipment, industrial traffic, and active manufacturing operations.
- Work in varying temperatures, including periods of extreme heat or cold. Non-AC Shop
- Work in areas with elevated noise levels while using required personal protective equipment.
