Senior Estimator / Chief Estimator

Pay Rate: $93-115k/annual
We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator / Chief Estimator with approximately 10 years of industrial fabrication estimating experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating fabricated steel and industrial projects, interpreting drawings and specifications, developing accurate project costs, and working closely with customers, vendors, engineers, and production teams.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed estimates and bids for industrial fabrication projects.
- Review blueprints, drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Develop accurate material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs.
- Calculate quantities, material takeoffs, fabrication hours, and production requirements.
- Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
- Communicate with customers and project teams to clarify scope and specifications.
- Identify potential project risks, cost changes, and scope gaps.
- Prepare competitive and profitable proposals for management review.
- Work closely with engineering, purchasing, production, and project management.
- Track estimating performance and help improve estimating procedures.
- Provide guidance and leadership to junior estimators.
- Maintain organized records of bids, pricing, historical costs, and project data.
- Assist with change-order pricing and project cost analysis.
- Ensure estimates are accurate, competitive, and completed within required deadlines.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in industrial fabrication estimating preferred.
- Strong knowledge of industrial fabrication processes and materials.
- Experience estimating structural steel, sheet metal, pipe, equipment, skids, platforms, and/or custom fabricated components.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Strong understanding of labor hours, material costs, fabrication methods, and shop capabilities.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and estimating software.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
