We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist to manage a full range of HR, safety, and compliance functions for approximately 60 employees distributed across four (4) entities in over nine (9) states. Key areas of responsibility include Benefits Administration, Recruitment, Onboarding, Timekeeping, Compliance, Safety, Record keeping, Training, and Employee Relations.



Key Responsibilities

  • HR Operations & Record keeping: Maintain soft and hard copies of personnel folders, the HRIS system, policy documents, and all required documentation across multiple organizations. Share workload and supervise the Human Resources Administrator.
  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Collaborate with management to fill open positions via active recruitment and management of 3rd parties. Conduct new employee orientations covering benefits, company policies, and safety guidelines. Process all documentation for new hires, terminations, transfers, or status changes.
  • Benefits & Payroll Support: Oversee administration of benefit programs, liaise with carriers, and manage claims for life insurance, short-term disability, paid family leave, and long-term disability. Work with HR leadership to manage annual open enrollment, update HRIS systems, authorize payroll changes, and support employees with claims.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Hold full responsibility for generating, maintaining, and overseeing the Affirmative Action Plan (AAP). Generate regulatory filings including AAP, EEO-1, VETS-100, Form 5500s, and OSHA logs. Ensure full compliance with local, state, and Federal employment and safety regulations.
  • Safety & Training: Ensure facilities in Bohemia, NY, and East Haven, CT, maintain full compliance with workplace health & safety regulations. Manage the Learning Management System (LMS) and deliver compliance and soft skill training courses annually.

  • Administrative & Travel: Oversee timekeeping systems. Assist employees with obtaining proper visas for international company travel. Perform non-HR compliance and administrative tasks as needed.
  • Travel Expectation: Up to 10% travel required, including monthly day trips to the East Haven, CT facility and potential quarterly visits to secondary locations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: 5 to 7 years of relevant HR Generalist experience in an industrial manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Legal & Regulatory: Solid understanding of NY State and Federal employment laws, insurance regulations, and OSHA workplace guidelines.
  • Technical: Direct hands-on experience working with an HRIS system and proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills across all organizational levels, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
    • Detail-oriented, mature, and professional with proven diplomacy and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to manage emergencies calmly, promptly, and professionally.

Preferred (Non-Essential) Skills

  • Knowledge of multi-state employment laws outside of New York State.
  • Hands-on experience developing Affirmative Action Plans (AAP).
  • Experience using ADP Workforce Now (WFN), Deltek Replicon Timekeeping, TalentLMS, or MS Dynamics (AX / D365) ERP systems.
  • Background in training program development.

Physical & Mental Demands

  • Specific vision requirements include close, distance, and focus adjustment abilities.
  • Frequent communication in person, by phone, and via digital platforms.
  • Ability to travel domestically via car, train, ferry, or airplane.
  • Ability to fulfill essential functions safely and in a consistent state of alertness.
