Briggs Vision Group is seeking a Dispensing Optician to join our team and provide an exceptional patient experience from frame selection through final dispensing. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable, service-oriented, detail-focused, and passionate about helping patients find eyewear that meets their vision needs, lifestyle, and personal style.

Opticians serves as an optical resource for both patients and team members, while contributing to a positive, professional, and collaborative environment. This role requires strong optical expertise, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering outstanding patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide an exceptional patient experience by creating a welcoming, professional, and personalized environment.
  • Guide patients through the frame and lens selection process based on prescription requirements, lifestyle, preferences, and budget.
  • Apply strong optical knowledge to recommend appropriate lenses, frames, treatments, and eyewear solutions.
  • Accurately take measurements, fit and adjust eyewear, and ensure finished eyewear meets quality standards and patient expectations.
  • Educate patients on eyewear care, warranties, protection plans, adjustments, and available follow-up services.
  • Build lasting relationships with patients through attentive listening, patience, courtesy, and knowledgeable service.
  • Troubleshoot optical concerns and proactively identify the underlying causes of recurring issues to develop effective, long-term solutions.
  • Accurately enter patient, prescription, and order information into the practice's point-of-sale and optical management systems.
  • Process payments accurately and follow all applicable company procedures for insurance, discounts, credit cards, and other transactions.
  • Monitor eyewear orders and help ensure products are completed and delivered within promised timeframes.
  • Use technology and digital tools effectively to enhance the patient experience and support daily operations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional optical environment and ensure displays and merchandise are presented appropriately.
  • Stay current on optical trends, eyewear fashion, products, technology, and industry standards.
  • Work collaboratively with the practice leadership team and colleagues to support patient satisfaction, operational excellence, and business growth.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and a commitment to the values and service standards of Briggs Vision Group.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous optical dispensing experience.
  • Strong knowledge of lenses, frames, fitting, and adjusting.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to confidently recommend eyewear based on patients' visual needs, lifestyle, preferences, and budget.
  • Comfortable using computers, tablets, point-of-sale systems, and other technology.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use optical inventory and practice-management systems.
  • Knowledge of current eyewear styles and fashion trends.
  • Strong customer service and sales skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a medical, optical, customer service, or retail environment.
  • Familiarity with insurance, optical benefits, and eyewear warranty programs.
