Senior Electrical Engineer / Project Manager – Syracuse, NY
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer / Project Manager to join our team in Syracuse. This role is ideal for a licensed Professional Engineer with a strong background in building systems design who can lead complex multidisciplinary projects and serve as a technical resource for junior staff.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for building systems, strong technical expertise, and the ability to manage projects from proposal through construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical design for building projects, including power distribution, lighting, electrical rooms, equipment layouts, and building systems.
- Perform electrical load calculations for generators, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, panelboards, VFDs, feeders, and branch circuits.
- Prepare electrical drawings, specifications, reports, and coordinated design solutions.
- Serve as Lead Electrical Engineer and/or Project Manager through proposal, design, bidding, and construction phases.
- Coordinate closely with mechanical, civil, structural, and architectural teams.
- Review designs and ensure compliance with applicable national, state, and local electrical and safety codes.
- Serve as Engineer-of-Record and technical design expert on assigned projects.
- Delegate and oversee work performed by junior engineers and designers while providing mentorship and technical guidance.
- Coordinate with owners, contractors, manufacturers, permitting authorities, and other project stakeholders.
- Support project development and maintain strong client relationships.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- New York State Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 7+ years of experience with an A/E consulting firm.
- Strong building systems design experience, particularly with:
- Power distribution
- Lighting
- Fire alarm
- Security systems
- Telecommunications
- AutoCAD and Revit experience preferred.
- Experience with electrical modeling/design software such as AGi32 and SKM preferred.
- Familiarity with Arc-Flash evaluations.
- Strong written, verbal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
