Plumber's Assistant
Job Description
About the Opportunity
Most job postings lead with benefits. We're leading with something rarer: the chance to train hands-on under one of the most experienced plumbers in the Chicagoland area.
This isn't just a job — it's an apprenticeship with someone who has spent decades mastering the trade and is ready to pass that knowledge on to the right person. If you're the kind of person who wants to actually learn a skilled trade from the ground up, rather than just punch a clock, this is a rare shot at real mentorship you won't find at a larger outfit where you're just another name on a roster.
We're a small, tight-knit commercial plumbing company, and we're looking for someone dedicated, sharp, and willing to put in the work to become a true tradesperson.
What You'll Do
- Work directly under supervision doing commercial plumbing service, repair, and installation jobs
- Learn diagnostic skills, code knowledge, and hands-on techniques
- Assist with material prep, job site setup, and day-to-day field work
- Build toward your own plumbing license and career in the trade
What We're Looking For
- One year plumbing or construction experience minimum required — we're looking for the right attitude, not necessarily a resume full of plumbing jobs
- Training to operate hydro jetting equipment and sewer lining installation
- Strong work ethic and genuine interest in learning a skilled trade
- Reliable, punctual, and coachable
- Comfortable with physical work and being on your feet
- Valid driver's license with ability to drive a trailer preferable
- Willingness to move toward a formal Illinois apprenticeship as you prove yourself in the role
- MUST be within 30 minutes drive time of Glenview, IL.
What We Offer
- Direct mentorship from our experienced plumber — a level of hands-on training rarely available at larger companies
- Starting pay of $20–$28/hour based on experience, with a clear path to a formal apprenticeship (and the pay growth that comes with it) once you've proven yourself
- Small-company environment — you're not a number here
- Health insurance contribution becomes available as you grow into the role.
