Night Shift HSE Lead
Job Description
Job Purpose
The HSE Lead is responsible for supervising HSE Technicians and supporting the HSE Supervisor in the implementation and execution of all Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) programs across the facility.
This position ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA and applicable regulatory requirements while actively supporting field operations, inspections, training coordination, and incident response activities. HSE Lead serves as a frontline safety leader ensuring consistent execution of safety systems, promoting a strong safety culture and supporting both administrative and hands-on compliance functions.
Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership & HSE Technician Oversight
• Supervise, assign, and review daily activities of HSE Technicians.
• Ensure HSE Technicians properly execute all assigned safety, environmental and compliance duties.
• Provide coaching, field support, and performance feedback to HSE Technicians.
• Support the HSE Supervisor by ensuring administrative and routine duties are executed at the technician level to allow greater supervisor presence on the production floor.
Regulatory Compliance & Weekly Inspections
•Assist HSE Supervisor in conducting weekly regulatory inspections including Waste Storage and hazardous material areas, Visible emissions (opacity monitoring), Facility-wide safety compliance and housekeeping.
•Ensure timely documentation, reporting, and corrective action tracking for all inspection findings.
•Support OSHA, EPA, county and state compliance requirements through field verification and documentation.
•Assist during regulatory agency inspections and wide supporting documentation as needed.
Training & Safety Meeting Coordination
•Coordinate facility safety meetings and ensure consistent delivery of safety topics across departments.
•Provide training materials and support for OSHA, EPA, and company required HSE Training programs.
•Assist in development and presentation of HSE Training sessions.
•Coordinate New Safety Orientation in conjunction with HSE Technicians and operations.
•Support contractor safety orientation and onboarding programs.
Field Support & Emergency Response
•Provide on-site support for spills, incidents and emergency response situations.
•Assist in first aid response and coordination of injured employee care.
•Assist in transporting injured employees to medical clinics when required and ensure proper follow-up documentation.
•Ensure PPE compliance is enforced in all facility areas and correct unsafe conditions when identified.
Qualifications / Competencies
Education:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
Years of Experience:
• 2 years of experience in the HSE Field and industry.
Driver’s License:
•Valid Driver's License Required.
• Must be able to operate company vehicles to respond to incidents, conduct inspections and transport injured employees when necessary.
Job Knowledge:
•First Aid/CPR/AED responder
•OSHA 30 – HR General Industry
•RCRA Hazaardous/Toxic Waste Management Training
•Hazardous Material Transportation Training
Desired:
•OSHA 1910 “Trainer for General Industry”
•ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 Auditor

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
•Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
•Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted on site.
•The ability to respond quickly to sounds.
•The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
•The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
•The ability to work in loud, hot environments/extreme weather while wearing required PPE.
•Ability to see at least 20-20 when corrected.
•Ability to identify and distinguish colors.

This position has the authority to stop an operation if he/she deems it necessary, for reasons of safety, and possible equipment damage. However, he/she must notify his/her supervisor on duty and follow the established notification procedure if the interruption is for an extended time period.
