Janitor
The Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and well-kept facility, with a strong focus on floor care, pressure washing, and general custodial upkeep. This position requires hands-on experience using floor maintenance equipment, pressure washing equipment, and performing routine cleaning duties to support a professional and sanitary environment. The candidate must be able to meet requirements for access to a military base.
Work Schedule
Must be available to work evening shifts and weekends. Specific schedule details may vary based on facility needs and assigned work areas.
Key Responsibilities
• Strip, wax, buff, and maintain floors according to established cleaning standards.
• Operate ride-on and walk-behind floor scrubbers safely and effectively.
• Use floor buffing, varnishing, and other floor care machines to maintain polished and well-protected surfaces.
• Sweep, mop, wax, and perform routine cleaning of assigned areas.
• Perform pressure washing of assigned exterior surfaces, walkways, entryways, and other areas as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of hallways, restrooms, offices, common areas, and other facility spaces as assigned.
• Inspect floors and work areas for spills, debris, or safety hazards and respond promptly.
• Clean, store, and report maintenance needs for custodial tools, machines, and supplies.
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Qualifications
• Two years or more of janitorial, custodial, or floor care experience preferred.
• Experience stripping and waxing floors strongly preferred.
• Ability to operate ride-on scrubbers, walk-behind scrubbers, buffers, and varnishing equipment.
• Ability to operate pressure washing equipment safely and effectively.
• Knowledge of basic cleaning methods, floor care procedures, and safe chemical use.
• Must be available to work an evening shift as scheduled.
• Must be dependable, arrive at work on time, and pay attention to details.
• Must be able to follow written and spoken instructions.
• Must be able to work alone or with a team.
• Must be able to complete assigned work within the required time.
• Must meet all background, identification, security, and other requirements needed to work on a military base.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, push, and pull throughout the shift.
• Ability to safely operate floor care equipment, pressure washing equipment, and lift up to 50 lbs. as required.
• Comfortable working in a variety of indoor facility areas and following assigned cleaning schedules.
