Chandler Behavioral Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) to join our Mobile Crisis Response (MCR) Team.


The Mobile Crisis Counselor provides rapid, community-based behavioral health support to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. We are looking for a dependable professional who can respond effectively in high-stress situations, provide direct crisis services, and work collaboratively with clients, families, community partners, and other members of the treatment team.


Position: Mobile Crisis Counselor – QMHP


Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to individuals experiencing behavioral health crises in community-based settings.
  • Provide direct crisis intervention, stabilization, and support services.
  • Complete required clinical documentation accurately and within established timeframes.
  • Assist with safety planning, crisis stabilization, and coordination of appropriate follow-up services.
  • Assess immediate needs and identify appropriate community resources and levels of care.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, law enforcement, hospitals, emergency departments, community providers, and other treatment professionals as appropriate.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and protect client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and agency requirements.
  • Follow all DBHDS, DMAS, Medicaid, and Chandler Behavioral Health policies and documentation standards.
  • Participate in supervision, training, and other required meetings.
  • Maintain flexibility and availability based on Mobile Crisis service needs.


Minimum Qualifications


Candidates must meet the requirements to qualify as a QMHP in Virginia, as applicable to the population served.


Preferred candidates will have:

  • Experience working in behavioral health, crisis stabilization, Mobile Crisis Response, community-based services, or emergency mental health services.
  • Strong crisis intervention and de-escalation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to complete timely, detailed, and compliant clinical documentation.
  • Ability to work independently in community-based environments.
  • Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and appropriate automobile insurance as required for the position.
  • Ability to successfully complete required background checks, screenings, and agency training.
