Basso Westport is a lively Italian-inspired gastropub located in the heart of Westport Plaza. Known for our wood-fired pizzas, inventive cocktails, and warm atmosphere, we pride ourselves on delivering memorable dining experiences. We’re looking for a friendly and professional Host/Hostess to be the first point of contact for our guests and help set the tone for their visit.
Job Summary
As a Host/Hostess, you’ll greet and seat guests, manage the flow of the dining room, and assist with front-of-house operations to ensure smooth service. This guest-facing role requires professionalism, organization, and a welcoming attitude, making it an exciting opportunity for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome guests warmly as they arrive
- Manage seating charts and assign tables to balance guest flow and server sections
- Monitor dining room activity to ensure efficient seating and turnover
- Answer phones, respond to guest inquiries, and assist with reservations and takeout orders
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning and organizing the host stand
- Support fellow team members with side work such as stocking, folding silverware, and light cleaning
- Provide professional and timely communication with both guests and team members
- Foster a positive, guest-first atmosphere by working collaboratively with servers, bartenders, and management
Requirements
- Strong verbal communication and customer service skills
- Ability to handle conflict resolution in a professional manner
- Team-oriented and willing to assist other departments as needed
- Positive energy, professionalism, and attention to detail
- Prior restaurant or hotel host/hostess experience preferred, but not required
- High school diploma or equivalent
