Job Title: Assembler – Commercial HVAC ModificationsJob Description

This role focuses on assembling and modifying commercial HVAC units to meet detailed customer specifications in an industrial job shop environment in Addison, IL. You will perform both mechanical and electrical assembly, integrating components such as valves, piping, controls, and drives, while ensuring all units meet strict quality, safety, and performance standards.

Responsibilities
  • Modify commercial HVAC units according to detailed customer specifications and engineering drawings.
  • Install and assemble components including raw valves, copper piping, electrical controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), fans, blowers, and wiring panels.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical assembly work on incoming units, primarily from major HVAC manufacturers.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and written work instructions accurately to complete assigned tasks.
  • Ensure all modifications meet established quality, safety, and performance standards before release.
  • Test assembled units for proper functionality and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues as needed.
  • Use tape measures, hand tools, power tools, and assembly equipment safely and effectively.
  • Operate machines and participate in assembly line and general production activities as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in a busy industrial job shop environment.
  • Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and engineering staff to complete projects on time.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working around galvanized steel and industrial equipment.
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance and a strong work ethic to support consistent production schedules.
Essential Skills
  • Experience using tape measures, hand tools, and power tools in an assembly or production environment.
  • Ability to perform mechanical assembly work, including installation of piping, valves, fans, and related components.
  • Basic understanding of electrical wiring and mechanical systems relevant to HVAC equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work instructions accurately.
  • Competence in general production, assembly line work, and machine operating tasks.
  • Troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving mechanical and electrical issues on assembled units.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods during the shift.
  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic in a fast-paced industrial setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Comfort working with hand and power tools for extended periods.
  • Experience in mechanical assembly or general labor within a manufacturing or job shop environment.
  • Ability to work safely around galvanized steel and industrial machinery.
  • Willingness to follow detailed engineering and customer specifications.
  • Capability to maintain organization and cleanliness in a busy production area.

Work Environment

This position operates on a first shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Work takes place in a typical industrial job shop that can be hot, dirty, and not optimally lit at times. You will work around galvanized steel, industrial equipment, and production machinery, using hand tools, power tools, and assembly equipment throughout the day. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, requiring comfort with physical work and adherence to safety practices.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Addison, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
