Job Description
The Production Supervisor oversees and coordinates the daily activities of production and hourly associates in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role focuses on optimizing production methods, improving equipment performance, enhancing product quality, and increasing overall efficiency. The Production Supervisor develops and implements production tracking and quality control systems, analyzes production and maintenance data to identify and resolve issues, and partners with technical and administrative staff to address processing challenges. This position also manages the full employee lifecycle for production staff, including hiring, training, evaluating, and, when necessary, discharging employees, while maintaining accurate production reports and personnel records.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of production and hourly associates to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations.
- Recommend and implement measures to motivate employees and improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and overall efficiency.
- Review daily operations and collaborate with technical and administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems in a timely manner.
- Develop, implement, and maintain production tracking systems and quality control processes to monitor performance and identify issues.
- Analyze production, quality control, and maintenance data to detect production problems and drive corrective actions.
- Hire, train, coach, evaluate, and, when necessary, discharge production staff in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Address and resolve personnel issues and grievances in a fair and consistent manner.
- Prepare, maintain, and update production reports, personnel records, and other required documentation.
- Promote continuous process improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, particularly within assembly and automotive-related processes.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, safety regulations, and union-related requirements within the production environment.
- Manage time and resources effectively to meet production schedules and performance targets.
- Coordinate with maintenance and technical teams regarding machines and tools, including their use, repair, and maintenance.
Essential Skills
- 5–7 years of manufacturing and supervisory experience, with hands-on assembly manufacturing exposure.
- 10+ years of overall experience in relevant production or manufacturing roles.
- Strong production management and production supervision skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated experience with process improvement in manufacturing settings.
- Verbal communication skills with the ability to convey instructions and feedback clearly.
- High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage one’s time effectively.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and quality control techniques for effective manufacturing and distribution.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in producing precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s degree in business or a related field preferred.
- Assembly manufacturing experience, particularly in automotive-related production, is strongly preferred.
- Experience in automotive manufacturing and fast-paced production environments.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Spring Hill, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
