The CNC Mill Machinist sets up and operates 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce high-quality precision components. This role focuses on efficient machine operation, accurate part production, and consistent adherence to quality and safety standards in a collaborative production environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Interpret blueprints, work instructions, and job travelers to determine machining requirements and proper tooling.
- Select, install, and adjust cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding devices to ensure accurate and efficient machining.
- Perform machine offsets and adjustments to maintain tight tolerances and part quality throughout the production run.
- Monitor machine operations and make necessary changes to feeds, speeds, and tooling to optimize performance and part quality.
- Inspect parts using appropriate measuring tools to verify dimensions and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Identify and troubleshoot machining issues, including tool wear, dimensional deviations, and surface finish problems.
- Maintain clean and organized work area, including machines, tools, and workstations, in accordance with safety and housekeeping guidelines.
- Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment while operating CNC mills.
- Collaborate with production team members to meet daily output targets and support continuous improvement efforts.
Essential Skills
- 3–5 years of experience operating CNC milling machines in a production or machining environment.
- Hands-on experience with 3-axis and 5-axis CNC mill operation.
- Strong proficiency with CNC mill setup, including tooling, fixturing, and workholding.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and machining instructions.
- Solid understanding of machining principles, feeds and speeds, and cutting tool selection.
- Proven ability to hold tight tolerances and produce consistent, high-quality parts.
- Competence in using standard measuring tools for part inspection (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a safe work environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience gained in precision machining or tool and die environments is highly valued.
- Background in CNC machining from established machine shops is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and quality-focused mindset.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a production team of approximately 30 people.
- Reliable work habits and willingness to support team goals and production schedules.

Work Environment
This role is based in a production facility working as part of a team of about 30 people. The environment centers around CNC milling operations with multiple machines running, requiring attention to safety, organization, and clear communication. Team members typically wear appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment suitable for a machining and manufacturing setting.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
