Assistant Controller

Patricia Wesson with Robert Half is searching for an Assistant Controller to support accounting operations and strengthen revenue-related financial oversight for a growing business in Vancouver, Washington. This role will play a key part in maintaining accurate reporting across wholesale and eCommerce channels while partnering closely with sales and operational teams. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment in applying revenue guidance, and the ability to manage complex transactions across multiple business streams.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee accounting activities tied to revenue streams, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with applicable accounting standards.

• Apply ASC 606 guidance to customer arrangements, evaluating contract terms and supporting proper timing and classification of revenue recognition.

• Lead key aspects of the monthly close process, including reconciliations, journal entries, and review of general ledger activity.

• Prepare and analyze financial reports related to sales performance, returns, receivables, reserves, bad debt exposure, and related revenue adjustments.

• Partner with sales and operations stakeholders to address accounting impacts of pricing, markdowns, transfer pricing, and intercompany transactions.

• Support audit activities by organizing documentation, responding to inquiries, and helping maintain compliance with financial reporting requirements.

• Manage accounting areas such as fixed assets and lease-related activity to support complete and accurate financial statements.

• Contribute to accounting oversight for business conducted across business-to-business and digital sales channels, including high-volume customer accounts.

• Assist with accounting considerations for multi-brand or international operations where applicable.

• Strong experience with month-end close, general ledger management, and preparation of accurate financial reporting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of ASC 606 and hands-on experience with revenue recognition accounting in complex business environments.
• Background supporting financial statement audits and maintaining well-documented accounting processes.
• Experience accounting for eCommerce or B2B revenue, including returns, receivables valuation, reserves, and bad debt.
• Working knowledge of fixed asset accounting, lease accounting, and other core technical accounting areas.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, especially sales and operations partners.
• Experience in manufacturing, consumer products, or similarly product-focused environments is preferred.
• Exposure to multi-brand businesses or international operations is a plus.
