Role Summary
The Executive Director, Technology Operations & Strategy serves as a key operational leader within the technology organization, partnering closely with executive leadership to drive strategic initiatives, optimize business operations, and ensure organizational effectiveness. This role bridges strategy and execution by providing oversight of budgeting, vendor management, governance, portfolio management, reporting, and operational planning. The ideal candidate is a highly organized and business-focused leader who excels at building structure, improving processes, and driving accountability across complex stakeholder environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with senior technology leadership to oversee day-to-day operations and advance organizational priorities.
- Serve as a strategic advisor, translating business objectives into executable operational plans.
- Develop and maintain governance frameworks, operational processes, and performance management practices.
- Lead planning, administration, forecasting, and monitoring of operating and capital budgets.
- Create financial reports, dashboards, forecasts, and executive-level presentations to support decision-making.
- Manage relationships with vendors, consultants, and service providers, including contract administration and performance evaluations.
- Oversee technology project portfolio governance, tracking project progress, risks, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Develop and maintain operational metrics, key performance indicators, and executive dashboards.
- Support compliance initiatives, audits, policy development, and organizational reporting requirements.
- Build strong partnerships across academic, administrative, and business functions to ensure alignment with institutional objectives.
- Facilitate strategic planning sessions, leadership meetings, and cross-functional initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for operational efficiency, cost savings, and continuous improvement.
Additional Details
- Hybrid 3 days onsite
- Full-time, regular leadership position
- Reports directly to executive technology leadership
- Offers significant influence on organizational strategy, operational excellence, and institutional transformation
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background verification and employment eligibility requirements
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Technology Management, Public Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in operations, administration, business management, project management, or organizational leadership.
- Experience managing budgets, financial planning, forecasting, and operational performance.
- Demonstrated success supporting senior executives and leading complex cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Experience managing vendor relationships, contracts, and service providers.
- Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)
- Experience supporting a CIO, CDIO, executive leadership team, or technology organization.
- Knowledge of project portfolio management, governance frameworks, and performance measurement practices.
- PMP, Lean, Six Sigma, or other relevant professional certifications.
- Experience developing executive dashboards, KPIs, and organizational reporting programs.
Compensation & Benefits
