Quality Inspector
Job Description
The Quality Inspector plays a key role in ensuring that incoming parts and electro-mechanical components meet all engineering and quality standards. In this role, you interpret manufacturing and engineering drawings, perform visual and dimensional inspections using gages and inspection tools, and document non-conformities clearly and accurately. You contribute to the overall quality of circuit board, PCBA, and electro-mechanical manufacturing by verifying measurements against blueprints and maintaining detailed quality documentation.
Responsibilities- Perform incoming inspections on parts and components to verify conformance to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Interpret manufacturing and engineering drawings, including schematics and drawing notes, to determine inspection criteria and measurement requirements.
- Use inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and various gages to measure parts and compare results to blueprints and documented standards.
- Conduct visual inspections and dimensional checks using appropriate measuring tools to identify defects or non-conformities.
- Update inspection reports accurately, documenting findings, measurements, and any non-conformities in accordance with quality procedures.
- Support quality documentation activities by maintaining records related to inspections, non-conformities, and quality control processes.
- Participate in incoming inspection processes for electronics and electro-mechanical assemblies, including circuit boards and PCBA components.
- Identify and document non-conformities in parts and assemblies, ensuring clear communication to relevant stakeholders.
- Assist with creating and performing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) as needed.
- Contribute to quality activities involving PPAPs, PFMEA, and control plans when required.
- Collaborate with the receiving inspection team to ensure efficient, accurate inspection of incoming materials.
- Follow established quality control procedures and inspection standards to maintain consistent product quality.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality inspection, gage calibration, or as a quality technician.
- Strong ability to interpret manufacturing and engineering drawings, including understanding measurement requirements and drawing notes.
- Proficiency in using inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and various gages to perform precise measurements.
- Hands-on experience measuring parts and comparing results to blueprints and documented specifications.
- Experience performing visual inspections and using measuring tools to identify defects and verify conformance.
- Ability to update and maintain inspection reports and quality documentation accurately and efficiently.
- Background in quality inspection or quality control within a manufacturing environment.
- Capability to document non-conformities clearly and in accordance with established procedures.
- Experience in electronics manufacturing, including circuit board manufacturing, PCBA, or electro-mechanical systems, is highly desired.
- Familiarity with schematics and electronic components is a plus.
- Experience creating and performing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) is a strong advantage.
- Exposure to PPAPs (Production Part Approval Process), PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and control plans is beneficial.
- Prior work within a contract manufacturing environment for electro-mechanical systems is an asset.
This position is based in an electronics manufacturing environment, working with electro-mechanical systems and components. The role is part of a small receiving inspection team of fewer than five people, providing a focused and collaborative setting. The opportunity is on the 2nd shift at the Buffalo Grove, IL facility, with standard hours from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Overtime is available, up to approximately 10 hours per week, but is not mandatory. You will work with a variety of inspection tools and quality documentation systems in a production environment that emphasizes accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established quality processes.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Long Grove, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
