Cnc Lathe Operator
Job Description
This role focuses on setting up, programming, and operating CNC mills and lathe machines to produce precision piston rings. You will create and interpret CAD drawings to develop CNC programs, run production, and ensure finished parts meet strict quality and technical specifications. The position also involves routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting to keep equipment operating safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities- Set up CNC lathes and mills for machining piston rings according to production requirements and technical drawings.
- Program CNC machines based on CAD drawings, ensuring accurate tool paths and machining parameters.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, layouts, and technical documentation to achieve required dimensions and tolerances.
- Operate CNC lathes and mills throughout the production run, monitoring machine performance and part quality.
- Inspect finished products for quality, accuracy, and compliance with blueprints and CAD specifications.
- Perform routine machine maintenance to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot machine and process issues, making adjustments to programs, tooling, or setups as needed.
- Apply shop math to verify dimensions, calculate offsets, and confirm machining parameters.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop standards and procedures.
- Proficiency in setting up, operating, and programming CNC lathes for machining applications.
- Ability to create and interpret CAD drawings to develop accurate CNC programs.
- Strong blueprint reading skills, including understanding layouts, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Experience with manual lathe operation and related machining practices.
- Competence in shop math, including measurements, conversions, and basic calculations used in machining.
- Capability to perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical or programming issues.
- Minimum of 2+ years of CNC machinist experience, including setup, operation, and programming.
- Experience working in a machine shop environment with CNC mills and lathes.
- Comfort working from detailed technical drawings and production documentation.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precise components.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make effective adjustments during production.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a production-focused environment.

Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a client-controlled machine shop environment, working directly with CNC mills, CNC lathes, and related machining equipment. The position follows set weekday shifts: first shift runs from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday, and second shift runs from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Overtime is available, typically ranging from 10 to 15 hours. The shop environment is production-focused, with an emphasis on safety, organization, and adherence to established processes and quality standards.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00/hr.
