The First Shift Production Supervisor oversees production operations at a St. Louis facility, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality output. This role executes plant objectives related to financial performance, safety, team member development, quality, and customer service, while supervising a team of 20 to 60 full-time and temporary hourly production team members. The supervisor makes confident, timely decisions, communicates clearly, and drives measurable performance and continuous improvement across the operation.

Responsibilities
  • Execute plant objectives in the areas of financial performance, safety, team member development, quality, and customer service.
  • Oversee daily production activities to ensure efficiency, adherence to schedules, and alignment with production goals.
  • Supervise, lead, and coach a staff of 20 to 60 full-time and temporary hourly production team members.
  • Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, accountability, and high performance among production staff.
  • Monitor quality control processes and ensure all products meet established company standards and customer expectations.
  • Implement and enforce safety regulations in compliance with OSHA guidelines and corporate policies.
  • Identify and resolve production issues, including equipment failures, process bottlenecks, and workflow disruptions.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels and coordinate material flow to support uninterrupted production.
  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and quality teams to optimize production processes and improve overall efficiency.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators such as productivity, downtime, and waste reduction, and report findings to support decision-making.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma practices, to enhance operational performance.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate policies and procedures in all aspects of production management and supervision.
  • Support and reinforce safety and infection control practices within the linen and laundry service environment.
  • Foster the development of team members through coaching, feedback, and opportunities for growth.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a supervisory or management role, preferably within production or manufacturing operations.
  • Proven experience in production supervision and production management.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to supervise, coach, and develop a diverse team.
  • Demonstrated ability to make confident, timely decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with production staff and cross-functional teams.
  • Solid understanding of safety practices and regulations, including OSHA compliance.
  • Experience with continuous improvement, Lean manufacturing, and process improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to monitor and maintain quality standards in a production or laundry service environment.
  • Capability to track, interpret, and report key performance indicators such as productivity, downtime, and waste.
  • Knowledge of corporate policies and the ability to apply them consistently in daily operations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working with laundry services and laundry equipment in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma principles and tools to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Background in linen management or related service operations supporting healthcare or similar industries.
  • Comfort working with cross-functional teams such as engineering, maintenance, and quality.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Commitment to measurable performance and continuous improvement in production operations.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $68000.00/yr.
