Job Description
This role focuses on operating a sit-down forklift and performing material handling duties within a large, fast-paced warehouse environment. You will move heavy, crated, and palletized materials from unloading docks to designated installation and storage areas, support loading and unloading activities, and help maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace.
Responsibilities
- Operate a sit-down forklift safely and efficiently to move materials throughout a large warehouse.
- Transport materials from the unloading dock area to the installation and storage areas on site.
- Handle heavy, crated, and palletized materials with care, following all safety procedures.
- Load pallets and materials onto trucks for shipping and distribution.
- Assist with unloading trucks and staging materials in appropriate locations.
- Perform general labor tasks related to material handling, packing, and shipping as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including regular housekeeping of work areas.
- Follow all safety guidelines and warehouse procedures to prevent accidents and damage.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality to support consistent warehouse operations.
- Adapt to a fast-paced and demanding environment while meeting productivity and quality expectations.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience operating a sit-down forklift in a warehouse or similar environment.
- Strong material handling skills, including moving heavy, crated, and palletized loads.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks throughout the shift.
- Experience loading pallets onto trucks and unloading materials from vehicles.
- Mechanical aptitude sufficient to safely operate and perform basic checks on forklift equipment.
- Experience in general labor tasks such as packing, loading, unloading, and shipping.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Consistently reliable attendance and punctuality.

- Prior experience working in a large warehouse setting.
- Comfort working in non-climate-controlled conditions.
- Strong attention to safety and detail when handling materials and operating equipment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and standard operating procedures.

Work Environment
You will work in a non-climate-controlled warehouse of approximately 500,000 square feet, where conditions can be fast paced and demanding. The environment involves regular heavy lifting, moving large and palletized materials, and operating sit-down forklifts and other material handling equipment. The role requires comfort with physical work, working around active shipping and receiving areas, and maintaining a clean and safe workspace throughout your shift.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Peters, MO.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
