Pipe Welder
Job Description
The Pipe Welder performs high-quality pipe welds and repairs in a large fabrication environment, setting up, operating, and breaking down welding equipment while maintaining a safe and orderly workplace. This role requires proficiency in multiple welding processes, the ability to work from blueprints to lay out and fit materials, and the capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities- Perform pipe welds and repairs to meet quality and safety standards.
- Set up, maintain, and break down welding equipment and related tools.
- Apply root passes using the RMD welding process with consistent quality.
- Apply root passes using the TIG welding process on pipe assemblies.
- Perform welding using pulse processes to achieve precise and reliable welds.
- Operate welding positioners and manipulators to complete complex welds.
- Lay out and thread pipe using a pipe threading machine according to specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints to lay out, fit, and fabricate material accurately.
- Handle and work with pumps, gauges, and other mechanical components as needed for fabrication and assembly.
- Maintain an orderly, safe, and clean work area at all times.
- Work unsupervised while meeting production goals and quality requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support fabrication and assembly operations.
- Proven experience in pipe welding with strong mechanical aptitude.
- Proficiency in TIG welding on pipe applications.
- Ability to perform root passes using the RMD welding process.
- Ability to weld using pulse welding processes.
- Experience welding with a positioner and manipulator.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately.
- Skill in layout and fitting material according to drawings and specifications.
- Experience threading pipe using a pipe threading machine.
- Familiarity with pumps, gauges, and related mechanical components used in fabrication.
- Strong understanding of fabrication practices and standards.
- Ability to maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Capability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Experience in a large fabrication or assembly shop environment.
- Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled facility while maintaining productivity and safety.
- Willingness to work second shift hours starting between mid-afternoon and early evening.
- Ability to work mandatory overtime during busy seasons, potentially up to 65–70 hours per week.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing clean, high-quality welds.
- Strong work ethic and reliability in meeting production schedules.

Work EnvironmentWork in a large, well-organized and very clean fabrication facility that is non-climate controlled. The role is on second shift, starting between approximately 3:45 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., with mandatory overtime during busy seasons that can reach 65–70 hours per week. You will work with welding equipment, positioners, manipulators, pipe threading machines, and various fabrication tools in a structured shop setting focused on safety, efficiency, and high-quality output.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Georgetown, SC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
