Job Description
This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and repairing automated packaging and distribution equipment in a highly automated distribution center. You will support the Operations Maintenance team by troubleshooting and repairing material handling equipment and pneumatic systems throughout the facility, while also mentoring junior technicians and collaborating with subcontractors to help stand up and support a new distribution center.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair automated packaging and distribution equipment, including conveyors and related systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues on all material handling equipment, including belts, motors, photo-eyes, relays, and related components.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting and installation tasks to keep automation systems operating safely and efficiently.
- Diagnose and repair pneumatic systems and components used in material handling and robotics applications.
- Install conveyor lines and ensure they operate correctly within the automated material handling system.
- Repair and maintain fork trucks to support reliable material movement within the facility.
- Support the setup and commissioning of a new distribution center by working alongside general contractors and subcontractors.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on automation and robotics equipment to minimize downtime.
- Mentor junior technicians by sharing technical knowledge, best practices, and safe work procedures.
- Collaborate with multiple levels of the distribution center team to resolve equipment issues and support operational goals.
- Follow all safety procedures, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment, to maintain a safe work environment.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage as required by site processes.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of industrial maintenance experience within automation and robotics environments.
- Hands-on experience as a maintenance technician working with automation, robotics, and material handling equipment.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical issues on material handling equipment, including belts, motors, photo-eyes, relays, and related components.
- Experience installing and maintaining conveyor lines in an industrial or distribution setting.
- Ability to perform electrical troubleshooting and installation safely and in accordance with applicable standards.
- Mechanical aptitude to diagnose and repair mechanical components on automation and material handling systems.
- Experience working with pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
- Ability to repair and maintain fork trucks and related industrial vehicles.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for both mechanical and electrical systems in an automated facility.
- Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced, automated distribution environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with robots and mechatronic systems in an industrial setting.
- Background in supporting new facility build-outs or distribution center startups.
- Ability to work collaboratively with subcontractors and general contractors during installation and commissioning phases.
- Comfort mentoring junior technicians and supporting their technical development.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with multiple levels of operations and maintenance teams.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to safe work practices in an automated environment.

Work Environment
The role follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with overtime after the shift and on Saturdays as needed. You will work in a clean, automated facility that is part of a new build, collaborating alongside general contractors and other trades to bring a distribution center online. The environment includes advanced material handling, automation, and robotics systems. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required, including steel toe footwear, hearing protection, and eye protection. The facility emphasizes safety, organization, and the use of modern automation technologies to support efficient operations.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cottage Grove, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $29.00 - $29.00/hr.
