The Welder is responsible for preparing, setting up, welding, and finishing metal components to produce high-quality parts that meet print specifications and established production standards. This role requires proficiency in MIG and TIG welding techniques, the ability to read and interpret blueprints, bills of materials, and routings, and a strong focus on accuracy, reliability, and teamwork.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare workpieces and materials for welding, including proper setup of equipment and work area.
  • Perform MIG, TIG, and spot welding operations to produce parts that meet print and quality standards.
  • Select and use appropriate wire and filler materials specific to the metals being welded.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, bills of materials, and routings to understand job requirements and specifications.
  • Inspect welds and finished parts to ensure they meet quality, dimensional, and production standards.
  • Finish welded components as required, including grinding, cleaning, and other post-weld operations.
  • Prioritize work based on production demands and respond effectively to requests from various departments.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and follow all safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Work independently to complete assigned tasks while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate ownership mentality by performing at a high level on every job and helping reduce waste and rework.
  • Consistently lift and move materials and parts weighing up to 50 pounds as part of daily duties.
  • Be flexible and available to work overtime as needed, including occasional Fridays.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in MIG welding techniques.
  • Proficiency in TIG welding techniques.
  • Ability to perform spot welding as required.
  • Knowledge of wire and filler materials specific to the metals being welded.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately.
  • Ability to understand and follow bills of materials and routings.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure quality and accuracy of welded parts.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a consistent basis.
  • Reliability and cooperative attitude in a production environment.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Capability to prioritize tasks and respond to changing production demands.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Preferred: At least 6 months of previous manufacturing experience.
  • Entry-level welders are welcome and will be considered.
  • Experience with fabrication and general welding operations.
  • Comfort working in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong sense of ownership and pride in workmanship.
  • Commitment to performing at a high level to support efficiency and cost savings.

Work Environment

This role is based on a manufacturing floor that is not climate controlled, so temperatures can be cool in the winter and hot in the summer, with large fans used during warmer months to improve air circulation. You will work closely with a team that values collaboration, where everyone is expected to pull their weight and maintain an ownership mentality. Standard hours are Monday through Thursday, with two schedule options: 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a 1-hour unpaid lunch, or 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a 30-minute paid lunch. Overtime is typically worked on Fridays, and flexibility to work additional hours as needed is required.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Owatonna, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
