The Painter (2nd Shift) role focuses on preparing, mixing, and applying paint and coatings in a metal fabrication shop. You will perform paint prep, operate spray equipment, and ensure high-quality finishes on parts and materials while working safely and efficiently in a busy manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, and masking parts and materials as required.
  • Mix paints and coatings according to specified formulas, ensuring correct color, viscosity, and consistency.
  • Operate paint spray equipment to apply coatings evenly and accurately to a variety of metal components.
  • Perform paint prep activities such as sandblasting and other surface treatment methods to achieve proper adhesion.
  • Inspect painted parts for quality, coverage, and finish, and make any necessary touch-ups or adjustments.
  • Handle and move parts and materials throughout the facility, including occasional lifting of items ranging from 5 lbs to 75 lbs.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including use of required personal protective equipment such as steel-toed shoes, hearing protection, and safety glasses.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage and handling of paints, solvents, and equipment.
  • Work effectively on 2nd shift (4:00 PM – 12:30 AM), meeting production schedules and supporting overall manufacturing operations.
  • Adapt to a non-climate-controlled shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, odors, and temperature variations while maintaining high performance and quality standards.
Essential Skills
  • Hands-on experience with paint preparation, including cleaning, sanding, and masking surfaces for coating.
  • Ability to mix paint accurately according to specified ratios and technical requirements.
  • Proficiency in using paint spray equipment to apply coatings to metal parts and assemblies.
  • Experience with sandblasting or similar surface preparation techniques in a manufacturing or shop setting.
  • Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled metal fabrication shop with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, odors, and temperature changes.
  • Ability to move about the facility throughout the shift and perform occasional moderate lifting of parts and materials from 5 lbs to 75 lbs.
  • Commitment to following safety protocols and consistently using required personal protective equipment.
  • Reliability and willingness to work 2nd shift hours from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.
  • Familiarity with shop safety practices and safe handling of paints, solvents, and related materials.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent quality standards in paint finishes.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to stay productive in a fast-paced, production-focused setting.

Work Environment

This position is based in a non-climate-controlled metal fabrication shop on 2nd shift, working from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM. You will move throughout the facility and handle parts and materials, including occasional lifting from 5 lbs to 75 lbs. The environment includes typical shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes, odors, and temperature variations. Required attire and equipment include steel-toed shoes, hearing protection, and safety glasses, with hearing protection and safety glasses provided. You will work around paint mixing and spray equipment, sandblasting operations, and other fabrication processes in a busy manufacturing setting.

This is a Contract position based out of Tulsa, OK.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
