Job Description
We are seeking dedicated Inspection Technicians to join our team in conducting facility inspections and surveys. This position requires a valid driver's license and the ability to communicate effectively. Candidates should have a basic mechanical ability and a professional demeanor, as the role involves entering customers' homes. This is an entry-level position with a focus on reliability and professionalism. The role demands the physical ability to walk, climb stairs, and be on your feet for an entire 8-hour workday in various weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Perform periodic facility inspections and surveys on utility-owned gas meters for corrosion and/or damage.
- Complete all necessary documentation and document inspection findings in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Support the successful completion of regulatory audits and inspections.
- Conduct integrity surveys, including direct assessments and close interval surveys.
- Perform audit reviews with operations and support them during audits.
Essential Skills
- Valid driver's license and at least 1 year of driving experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and initiative skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
- Intermediate knowledge of mathematics, algebra, and mechanical aptitude.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in customer service.
- Experience in cable technology, HVAC, piping, or as an auto mechanic is advantageous but not required.

Work Environment
This is a 100% field-based position with flexibility to travel within the utility territory. Work primarily takes place in Brooklyn and Queens, with standard operating hours from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm. Saturday shifts are available upon supervisor's request. Training includes classroom sessions and field shadowing, with all necessary equipment provided, including safety gear and tools.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jersey City, NJ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
