Powder Coating Technician
Job Description
The Powder Coating Technician prepares metal door and frame systems for final coating and painting, using a variety of tools and equipment to ensure high-quality surface finishes. In this role, you apply powder coatings, operate production machinery, and verify that coating coverage, thickness, and cure meet established manufacturing standards and specifications before products move to final assembly.
Responsibilities- Prepare metal door and frame system surfaces for powder coating and painting using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Apply powder coatings and production paint in accordance with manufacturing standards and specifications.
- Operate production and manufacturing process equipment, including sandblasting tools and other surface preparation machinery.
- Ensure coating coverage, thickness, and cure meet quality requirements and established specifications.
- Inspect surfaces before and after coating to verify proper preparation and finish quality.
- Identify and distinguish differences in color to maintain consistent and accurate finishes.
- Follow established procedures and safety guidelines when working with machinery, hazardous materials, and production aids such as lifts, overhead cranes, and forklifts.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient production and high-quality output.
- Collaborate with team members in the powder coating area and final assembly to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of orders.
- Report any equipment issues, safety concerns, or quality deviations to appropriate personnel and assist in corrective actions.
- Experience with powder coating processes and equipment.
- Experience with production painting in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with sandblasting and other surface preparation techniques.
- Ability to identify and distinguish differences in color accurately.
- Understanding of basic production and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to work safely around machinery, hazardous materials, and airborne particles.
- Capability to perform heavy physical work, including lifting and moving objects up to 70 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Prior experience in a machining or manufacturing setting is helpful.
- Interest in developing a long-term career in machining or CNC-related work.
- Comfort working in environments with moderate to loud noise and moving mechanical parts.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a production facility where heavy work is regularly required and moderate to loud noise is common. You frequently stand, stoop, walk, twist, bend, and lift or move heavy objects up to 70 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds, with the support of production aids such as raised work platforms, lifts, overhead cranes, and forklifts. You may occasionally be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, hazardous materials, humid conditions (non-weather), and moving mechanical parts while performing your duties.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
