Sample Handling Assistant
Job Description
Join our dynamic team as a Sample Management Assistant at our central laboratory known for its leading health care diagnostics and drug development services. In this role, you will be responsible for the receipt and processing of irreplaceable clinical trial specimens, operating equipment to process samples, and entering data under the supervision of a Sample Management supervisor.
Responsibilities- Receive shipments for the Laboratory Pre-Analytical Services (LPS) departments and handle all related tasks.
- Resolve any misrouted shipments efficiently.
- Open and clean inbound shipments while ensuring quality control of discarded materials.
- Maintain the temperature of specimens in their received condition.
- Scan shipments into the database and follow standard procedures for sorting and routing samples to destination departments.
- Perform kit receipt processes and quality control of requisitions.
- Enter patient demographics data accurately.
- High School diploma or GED completion.
- At least 1 year of experience in sample management or warehouse operations.
- Detail-oriented, efficient, and capable of working independently or in a team.
- Ability to lift over 30 lbs and handle dry ice.
- Proficiency with computers, particularly with Microsoft Suite.
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences is preferred.
- Experience with industrial freezers and dry ice is beneficial.
- Familiarity with data entry and tracking processes is advantageous.
The work schedule is from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, Tuesday through Saturday. The facility is fast-paced, processing approximately 1000 samples per day. The role involves mostly standing and walking, with independent work required to meet metrics, while also collaborating with team members and management as needed.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
