Job Title: Preventive Maintenance Technician

Job Description

The Preventive Maintenance Technician performs routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime. This role involves conducting inspections, troubleshooting issues, and executing maintenance tasks in a timely and efficient manner while working independently and in collaboration with Maintenance Technicians, Fabricators, Utility Technicians, MRO Purchasers, Inventory Clerks, and contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs on machinery, equipment, and facilities, including new equipment installation and modifications or upgrades.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team with other technicians and departments to address maintenance-related concerns.
  • Visually inspect and listen to machines and equipment to identify causes of malfunctions and abnormal operation.
  • Inspect and measure parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other mechanical issues.
  • Conduct regular inspections of machinery and equipment to identify potential problems before they cause downtime.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as lubricating, adjusting, and testing equipment to ensure reliable operation.
  • Document all maintenance activities and maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and service in a CMMS system or recording spreadsheet.
  • Assist in the development and execution of maintenance schedules and preventive maintenance plans.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and techniques to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical failures.
  • Lubricate or apply adhesives and other materials to machines, machine parts, or equipment according to specified procedures.
  • Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments in accordance with engineering specifications and safety standards.
  • Set up and operate tools such as drill presses, grinders, welding equipment, and similar tools to fabricate or repair parts as needed.
  • Start and test machines and other equipment after maintenance or repairs to verify proper operation and quality of work.
  • Read and interpret work orders and specifications to determine which machines and equipment require repair, maintenance, or service.
  • Inspect components of industrial equipment for accurate assembly and installation, checking for defects such as loose connections and frayed or damaged wires.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks, including checking, cleaning, repairing, and lubricating equipment to detect and prevent breakdowns.
  • Study and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other technical specifications to determine installation and repair procedures.
  • Repair and adjust equipment and machinery to restore proper function and ensure safe, efficient operation.

Work Environment

This role is based in a hands-on industrial environment, working on a team of approximately 15 technicians. The schedule is five days per week, 10 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with shifts typically running from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You work directly with production and maintenance equipment, using tools such as drill presses, grinders, and welding equipment, and you document activities in a CMMS or similar system. The environment is fast-paced and focused on safety, reliability, and collaboration among technicians and support staff

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.
