Job Description
The Technical Writer/Trainer will be responsible for creating and maintaining technical manuals and training materials for customers on the operation and maintenance of aerostat systems and their supporting equipment. This role involves developing various media, including technical manuals and training materials, and facilitating training sessions for students in both domestic and international locations.
Responsibilities
- Write and revise technical documentation, development plans, and organize technical documentation development efforts.
- Develop lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, and practical exercises to support customer modifications.
- Maintain effective communication with all levels of management, employees, and external parties.
- Collaborate with partners, subcontractors, and customers to complete technical documentation development with minimal supervision.
- Develop documentation in MIL-STD format using XML and training templates to ensure consistency in customer-delivered products.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical and/or Business Management discipline.
- Minimum of five years of technical writing experience.
- Attention to detail and familiarity with industry-recognized publications and training standards.
- Experience with technical writing in XML and/or Arbortext.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Clearance.
- Proficiency with MS Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Military (DoD) training and/or experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with graphics tools and computer-based technical manual authoring tools such as Arbortext.
- Knowledge of modeling tools such as SolidWorks is a plus.
- Ability to quickly assimilate new software.
Work Environment
Initially onsite for the first month, then transitioning to two days in the office until the first training starts. Subsequently, work will be onsite and then in Poland. The position involves two trips to Poland, each lasting 16 weeks, with alternating periods at home. Flexibility for one long stretch in Poland may be accommodated. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elizabeth City, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.00 - $46.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
