Job Description
As an Inspection Technician, you will be responsible for conducting periodic facility inspections and surveys on utility-owned gas meters to assess for corrosion and damage. This role requires professionalism and reliability as you will be entering customers' homes and interacting with them directly.
Responsibilities
- Perform periodic facility inspections and surveys on utility-owned gas meters for corrosion and/or damage.
- Complete all necessary documentation.
- Document inspection findings in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Support the successful completion of regulatory audits and inspections.
- Conduct integrity surveys, which include direct assessments and close interval surveys.
- Perform audit reviews with operations and support them during audits.
Essential Skills
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
- Professional demeanor with strong communication skills.
- Mechanical aptitude with experience in cable technology, HVAC, piping, or auto mechanics is advantageous.
- Ability to walk, climb stairs, and ladders during an 8-hour workday in various weather conditions.
- Capability to be on feet for 8 hours a day, covering several miles.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and initiative skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
- Intermediate knowledge of mathematics, algebra, and mechanical aptitude.
- Experience interfacing with technical services, government agencies, emergency planning committees, emergency responders, landowners, and contractors.

Work Environment
This is a 100% field-based position that requires flexibility to travel within the utility territory, primarily in Brooklyn and Queens. Training is comprehensive, starting with OSHA/Orientation and followed by in-class sessions, certification testing, and on-the-job shadowing. You will report to job sites using your own vehicle and receive a daily route via a handheld tablet. Equipment provided includes a simple tool set, safety gear, and a tablet. Standard operating hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm, with potential Saturday shifts at the supervisor's request.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
