Job Description

The Maintenance Technician II supports the Operations Maintenance team by installing, repairing, and maintaining material handling equipment, pneumatic systems, and automated packaging and distribution equipment throughout the facility. This role focuses on ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and maintaining accurate documentation for preventative and predictive maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance routines on material handling equipment and pneumatic systems, ensuring accurate and complete documentation of all work performed.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues related to Material Handling Equipment (MHE), including belts, motors, photo-eyes, relays, and related components.
  • Install, maintain, and repair automated packaging and distribution equipment to support efficient operations.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics to diagnose and resolve equipment problems.
  • Apply electrical and electronic principles to identify faults and implement effective repairs.
  • Use a multimeter and other diagnostic tools to test, verify, and adjust electrical circuits and components.
  • Maintain positive working relationships across all departments within the operations facility to support collaboration and effective communication.
  • Track, manage, and store department inventory, ensuring tools, parts, and supplies are readily available and properly organized.
  • Conduct predictive maintenance procedures to identify potential equipment failures and address issues before they impact operations.
  • Adhere to Material Handling Equipment (MHE) safety standards in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and applicable safety requirements, where applicable.
  • Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to log work orders, track maintenance activities, and maintain equipment history, where applicable.
  • Assist with robotic operation and maintenance by performing routine checks and basic troubleshooting, where applicable.
  • Troubleshoot basic input and output functions for automated systems as needed.
  • Move and lift up to 49 pounds and handle equipment and materials safely throughout the shift.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience with industrial maintenance.
  • At least 2 years of experience conducting predictive and preventative maintenance procedures.
  • At least 1 year of experience reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • At least 1 year of knowledge and practical application of electrical and electronic principles.
  • Ability to safely and effectively use a multimeter for electrical testing and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience in electrical troubleshooting and maintenance.

Work Environment

This role is based in a large operations facility with extensive material handling and automated packaging equipment. Work involves moving between departments, floors, and properties, with walking distances that may range from 6 to 12 miles per day. The position requires frequent physical activity, including reaching arms above the head, kneeling, squatting, climbing steps and ladders, and regularly crouching and bending at the waist or knees to install or move equipment. You must be able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds of equipment and handle tools and parts safely. The environment may have fluctuating temperatures, and tasks may need to be performed while wearing a mask, face shield, and composite-toed boots in accordance with facility safety requirements. You will regularly use computers or stand-up desks for 1–2 hours per day to document maintenance activities and access technical information, while working around automated conveyor systems, controls, robotics, and other industrial technologies in a busy, production-oriented setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Papillion, NE.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
