We are looking for an HR Generalist to support a busy non-profit organization in Baltimore, MD. This role will contribute across recruiting, onboarding, payroll support, employee communications, and day-to-day HR operations. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, sound judgment with confidential information, and the ability to keep multiple time-sensitive processes moving efficiently.


Responsibilities:

•Improve HR systems, processes and policies in support of organization’s mission -- specifically, support better management reporting, information flow, business process and organizational planning.

•Implements and annually updates the compensation program; rewrites job descriptions as necessary; conducts annual salary surveys; analyzes compensation; monitors the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.

•Develops, recommends and implements personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook on policies and procedures; performs benefits administration, change reporting, and annual re-evaluation of policies for cost-effectiveness, and information activities program and cash flow.

•Conducts recruitment effort for all positions; writes and places advertisements; works with supervisors to screen and interview candidates; conducts reference checking.

•Conducts new-employee orientations; monitors career-path program, and conducts exit interviews.

•Audits and maintains the organizations Human Resources Management System (HRMS) with up-to-date personnel information and records. Participates in operations staff meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars.

•Complete and submit documentation to external agencies including worker’s compensation claims, unemployment claims, verification of employment, etc.

•Evaluates reports, decisions and results of department initiatives in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.

•Ensure that professional development is offered to all employees and work with managers to ensure that development plans are in place for all employees.

•Provide internal consulting to GHHI leadership and managers on all human resources-related matters.

•Ensure management actions conform to employee handbook and labor laws.

• 3+ years of experience in a Human Resources Generalist or similar HR support role.
• Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now in a recruiting, onboarding, or HR administration environment.
• Familiarity with payroll support processes, benefits administration, and HR data accuracy requirements.
• Experience working with HRIS platforms and reporting tools, including ADP ReportSmith or similar systems.
• Ability to partner effectively with finance and cross-functional departments on employee-related processes.
• Strong written communication skills for drafting job postings, offer letters, and policy-related materials.
• Proven ability to manage confidential information and handle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
