Job Description
As a CNC Mill Machinist, you will study blueprints and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances for finished workpieces. You will calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as coolant flow and depth of cut, and enter commands to retrieve, input, and edit computerized machine control parameters. Additionally, you will machine and mount fixturing for production runs, set machine positioning for part production, and maintain tooling assemblies for subsequent operations.
Responsibilities
- Study blueprints and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces.
- Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as coolant flow and depth of cut.
- Enter commands to retrieve, input, and edit computerized machine control parameters.
- Machine and mount fixturing for all production runs and set machine positioning for part production.
- Assemble, measure, and load tooling for subsequent operations into the tool-changers.
- Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining; adjust machine controls as required.
- Use micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, and other precision measuring devices to confirm part geometry meets tolerance specifications.
- Confer with production operators, programmers, or others to resolve machining problems.
- Assemble and preset tooling for the next operation during automated cycles to reduce machine downtime.
- Maintain, clean, and lubricate machines as required.
Essential Skills
- Experience with CNC mill operations (6 months+).
- Proficiency in using calipers and micrometers for precise measurements.
- Ability to hold tolerances of +/-.002.
- Understanding of CNC milling machining.
- Knowledge in setting up machines and tooling.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Kitamura, Brothers, Haas, and GenMil milling machines.
- Understanding of basic CNC operations.
- Ability to set up, change tools, and apply basic codes.
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.

Work Environment
Work in a machine shop specializing in aerospace, with a weekend shift from 6am to 6:30pm, Friday through Sunday, with an optional shift on Monday from 6am to 10am.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
