Maintenance Technician
Job Description
This role is an on-site, first-shift Maintenance Technician position in a modern manufacturing facility. You will perform multi-craft electromechanical maintenance, including preventive and reactive work, troubleshooting equipment failures, and supporting production through safe and efficient repair of machinery. The position focuses on mechanical and electrical maintenance, basic PLC troubleshooting, and working with a wide range of industrial equipment to keep operations running smoothly.
Responsibilities- Perform preventive maintenance on production and facility equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Respond to and resolve reactive maintenance needs by troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical issues on machinery.
- Diagnose and fix equipment breakdowns using hand tools, power tools, and test equipment such as multimeters.
- Conduct basic PLC troubleshooting to identify control-related issues and support machine functionality.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and electrical and mechanical schematics to perform accurate repairs and installations.
- Repair and replace worn or damaged parts, components, and assemblies on industrial equipment.
- Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including cylinders, valves, pumps, and related components.
- Maintain and repair injection molding machines, extrusion machines, CNC machines, pumps, chillers, and robotics as needed.
- Perform electrical work up to 480V, including wiring, terminations, and electrical assembly tasks within appropriate safety guidelines.
- Use inspection equipment and material handling tools to support maintenance activities and ensure proper operation of machinery.
- Document maintenance work in computer systems, including work orders, repair notes, and preventive maintenance records.
- Collaborate with production and other team members to schedule maintenance, minimize disruption, and improve equipment reliability.
- Apply mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to identify root causes of equipment issues and implement effective solutions.
- Follow safety procedures, including consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by recommending maintenance process enhancements and equipment upgrades.
- Handle shop tools such as grinders, plasma cutters, and fabrication tools to perform mechanical repairs and modifications.
- Assist with installation, setup, and adjustment of new or existing machinery and equipment.
- Use basic computer skills and software systems to log activities, access documentation, and communicate with team members.
- Demonstrate a positive, professional attitude and strong teamwork orientation while working independently and with others.
- Industrial maintenance experience with multi-craft responsibilities.
- Mechanical maintenance skills, including mechanical repair and assembly.
- Electrical maintenance experience, including electrical troubleshooting and wiring.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control issues on industrial equipment.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and mechanical and electrical schematics.
- Experience with part repair and replacement on production machinery.
- Skilled in using hand tools and power tools for maintenance and repair work.
- Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics, including system components and operation.
- Experience working with 3-phase motors and related electrical components.
- Ability to use a multimeter and other test equipment safely and effectively.
- Basic PLC troubleshooting skills to support equipment controls.
- Basic computer skills for documenting maintenance work and using maintenance software.
- Ability to work with your hands and perform hands-on mechanical and electrical tasks.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
- Ability to lift and move 25 pounds regularly, and up to 50 pounds when needed.
- Basic reading, writing, arithmetic (shop math), and comprehension skills.
- Proven proficiency using shop tools such as grinders and plasma cutters.
- Production knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Strong problem-solving, observational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Basic mechanical skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to use computer system software related to maintenance and production.
- Teamwork orientation and ability to collaborate with others.

- Ability to read and understand ladder logic in PLC programs.
- Experience troubleshooting and maintaining 480V electrical cabinets.
- Welding skills for repair and fabrication work.
- Metal fabrication experience, including cutting, forming, and assembling components.
- Robotics troubleshooting experience in an industrial setting.
- Experience with CNC machining and operation of CNC equipment.
- Experience terminating wires and performing precise electrical connections.
- Background in injection molding or extrusion processes and related equipment.
- Experience with circuit boards, electrical assembly, and wiring diagrams.
- Familiarity with inspection equipment and material handling systems.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and maintenance repair practices.
- Comfort working with PLC controls and PLC maintenance tasks.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a manufacturing facility with a mix of non-climate-controlled and climate-controlled areas. You will work on first shift, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The facility houses a variety of industrial equipment, including injection molding machines, extrusion machines, CNC machines, pumps, chillers, valves, PLCs, robotics, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and 3-phase electrical equipment up to 480V. Work involves regular use of hand tools, power tools, grinders, plasma cutters, multimeters, inspection equipment, and material handling devices. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required, and you will be expected to follow all safety procedures while working in an active production environment that may be noisy and involve varying temperatures depending on the area of the plant.
