Job Description
This swing shift General Production Worker role focuses on paint preparation and finishing of fabricated metal components in a busy industrial manufacturing environment. You support the paint department by preparing metal parts for coating through sanding, masking, grinding, and material handling, and assist with painting finished products before they are shipped to customers. This position operates Monday through Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. and works closely with the fabrication and paint teams to ensure high-quality, properly finished parts.
Responsibilities- Prepare metal surfaces for coating by using power grinders and sanders to remove rust, scale, weld splatter, and other surface imperfections.
- Hang parts on racks and place large items on carts or fixtures to stage them for painting and drying.
- Move prepared items to drying areas and organize parts for further painting or assembly as needed.
- Wash parts and carefully mask areas that should not be painted to ensure clean, accurate finishes.
- Mix polyurethane and epoxy coating materials with reducers, thinners, and hardeners to the correct ratios following established guidelines.
- Assist with painting finished products to meet quality standards before shipment to customers.
- Perform general labor duties in the paint department, including cleaning work areas, equipment, and tools.
- Handle materials and fabricated components safely and efficiently, supporting continuous production flow.
- Support metal finishing tasks as needed, using hand and power tools to achieve required surface quality.
- Collaborate with team members in the paint and fabrication departments to meet production schedules and maintain a safe work area.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools in an industrial setting.
- Industrial manufacturing experience, preferably in a production or fabrication environment.
- Experience with grinding metal surfaces using appropriate equipment.
- Ability to perform sanding, masking, and general labor tasks in a paint prep or production environment.
- Capability to handle materials and fabricated components safely and efficiently.
- Comfort working with polyurethane and epoxy coating materials and following mixing instructions.
- Basic understanding of metal finishing processes and surface preparation for painting.
- Prior experience in a paint prep or paint department within a manufacturing facility.
- Experience with production workflows and meeting daily or weekly output goals.
- Familiarity with cleaning procedures for paint equipment and work areas.
- Ability to work effectively on a swing shift schedule (afternoon to late night).
- Strong attention to detail when masking, sanding, and preparing parts to ensure high-quality finishes.

The position follows a swing shift schedule from Monday to Thursday, 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., supporting extended production hours. Work involves standing for long periods, moving parts and materials, and performing tasks that may generate dust, noise, and fumes typical of metal fabrication and paint operations. Appropriate industrial attire and safety gear are expected to ensure safe and efficient performance of duties.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
