Job Description
The Press Operator sets up and operates production machinery to manufacture parts according to specifications, ensuring quality, accuracy, and efficiency throughout the production process. This job is very entry level and open to no exact experience if the candidate is willing to learn.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate press machines and related equipment to produce parts according to prints and work orders.
- Inspect parts for defects and verify that finished products meet quality and specification standards.
- Read and interpret prints or work orders to determine part specifications, tooling requirements, and to plan operational sequences.
- Position, adjust, and secure material against stops, fixtures, or automatic feeders manually or with a forklift as needed.
- Set machine stops or guides to specified lengths using scales, rules, or templates to ensure precise cutting and forming.
- Clean tooling punches and maintain tooling components to support safe and efficient machine operation.
- Compute data such as machine settings, using shop mathematics to optimize production, including cutting multiple sheets at a time.
- Load finished materials into the packaging area and ensure proper handling of parts and products.
- Count materials accurately to maintain correct inventory and production records.
- Organize and label boxes, bins, and products clearly to support traceability and efficient workflow.
- Remove defective products from the production line and place them in designated red rejection bins.
- Transport completed boxes to pallets or the shipping area in a safe and orderly manner.
- Perform general production and fabrication tasks as needed to support overall manufacturing operations.
- Complete other tasks as assigned to ensure smooth and continuous production.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on experience with production and machine operation in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to operate press machines and related equipment safely and efficiently.
- Operation monitoring skills to observe gauges, dials, and machine indicators and make timely adjustments.
- Strong attention to detail to identify defects and ensure products meet specifications.
- Reading comprehension skills to understand prints, work orders, and written instructions.
- Ability to work well with others and collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Positive communication skills to share information clearly and maintain productive working relationships.
- Strong organization skills to manage materials, labeling, and workflow accurately.
- Comfort with general labor tasks including material handling, counting, and packaging.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Fabrication, assembly, or press machine operation experience.
- Experience working in a clean, organized production facility.
- Ability to use basic measuring tools such as scales, rules, or templates.
- Familiarity with shop mathematics to calculate machine settings and material usage.
- Willingness to perform a variety of tasks and support different areas of production as needed.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lakeville, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
