Job Description
The Operator safely sets up, runs, and troubleshoots intake and vat machinery while maintaining high standards of product quality, cleanliness, and equipment performance. This role involves manual machine setup, continuous monitoring, and proactive problem solving to ensure smooth production operations.
Responsibilities
- Manually set up intake and vat machines using hand tools according to work orders and production requirements.
- Operate machinery and monitor screens continuously to ensure machines run correctly and efficiently.
- Perform machine changeovers as needed to support different products and production schedules.
- Test and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues that arise during operation, identifying root causes promptly.
- Collaborate with maintenance personnel by clearly demonstrating and explaining issues so effective solutions can be implemented.
- Independently resolve machine issues when possible without requiring maintenance intervention.
- Read, interpret, and use work orders on a daily basis to guide setup, operation, and changeovers.
- Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of machines for product switchovers and at the end of each shift.
- Conduct quality checks on products throughout the production run to ensure they meet specifications.
- Follow all safety, sanitation, and operational procedures while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of machine operation experience.
- Experience with light mechanical testing and troubleshooting on production equipment.
- Experience with light electrical testing and troubleshooting on production equipment.
- Ability to manually set up machines using hand tools.
- Proficiency in reading and using work orders to guide daily tasks.
- Ability to monitor machine screens and quickly identify abnormal conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical issues.
- Ability to perform routine cleaning and sanitizing of machinery.
- Attention to detail when performing quality checks throughout production runs.
- Commitment to following safety and sanitation procedures in a production environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience operating intake and vat machinery or similar production equipment.
- Familiarity with machine changeovers in a manufacturing or processing environment.
- Comfort working closely with maintenance teams to address equipment issues.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in resolving equipment problems.
- Strong communication skills to report issues and document work accurately.

Work Environment
This role is based in a cooler production environment, with temperatures around 30 degrees in the winter and approximately 60 degrees in the summer. You work on and around production machinery and must follow strict sanitation and safety standards. The dress code includes wearing a hair net, lab coat, and beard net as needed to maintain product safety and cleanliness.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Le Sueur, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.94 - $23.78/hr.
