This role focuses on building assemblies, sub-assemblies, panels, and components for automated equipment used in the manufacturing of medical devices, as well as aerospace and nuclear industry applications. You will work on a clean, well-lit manufacturing floor, contributing to the construction and integration of complex mechanical and electrical systems while following detailed instructions and technical documentation.

Responsibilities
  • Build mechanical assemblies, sub-assemblies, panels, and complete machines from prints and technical documentation.
  • Follow step-by-step work instructions to connect and assemble components, both mechanically and electrically.
  • Perform mechanical assembly of machines and sub-assemblies using appropriate hand and power tools.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematics to guide assembly and machine building activities.
  • Use a bill of materials (BOM) and schematics to identify potential problems, organize work by assembly, and ensure all components are correctly installed.
  • Conduct testing and troubleshooting of components and systems, including the use of volt meters and other diagnostic tools.
  • Assist with or work under supervision during machine power-up to ensure proper operation and safety.
  • Perform electrical wiring and connections for automated equipment in accordance with schematics and safety standards.
  • Work with hydraulic and pneumatic components as part of automated equipment builds.
  • Use tape measures and other measurement tools to verify dimensions and tolerances during assembly.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area within the clean room or clean manufacturing space.
  • Collaborate with team members, coaches, and trainers to continuously improve skills and support successful project completion.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and cross-train in other areas of machine building and automation.
Essential Skills
  • 2–3+ years of experience building machines, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, or automated equipment.
  • 1+ year of experience working from mechanical and electrical schematics, prints, or diagrams.
  • 1+ year of experience troubleshooting and testing components, including using volt meters.
  • Proficiency in mechanical assembly and machine building.
  • Ability to perform electrical wiring and basic electrical assembly tasks.
  • Experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics in an equipment or automation environment.
  • Strong blueprint and schematic reading skills for both mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Ability to follow detailed, step-by-step instructions and adhere to BOMs and assembly documentation.
  • Demonstrated willingness to train and learn new skills in related technical areas.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills when working with multiple assemblies and components.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in automation and robotics, power and fluid, or as an electronic technician is preferred.
  • Experience in automation and machine building for medical device, aerospace, or nuclear industry applications is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with clean room or clean space manufacturing practices.
  • Comfort working with automation technologies and complex mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an open-concept, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving assembly issues.

Work Environment

Work takes place in a clean room or clean space manufacturing environment that is well lit, temperature controlled, and designed for precision assembly of devices, assemblies, and sub-assemblies. The facility features an open concept culture where collaboration and teamwork are encouraged, and the overall atmosphere is professional, organized, and supportive. The standard shift runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with potential flexibility to start an hour earlier or an hour later as needed after training. You will use a variety of hand and power tools, measurement devices such as tape measures, and electrical testing equipment such as volt meters while working on automated equipment and machine builds in a clean, carefully maintained production space.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shoreview, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.
