The General Production Worker sets up and operates CNC milling and lathe machinery to produce precision parts, performs tool changes and equipment offsets, assists with material loading, and completes quality inspections using standard measuring tools. This role supports fabrication and assembly activities, follows detailed instructions and blueprints, and helps maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.

Responsibilities
  • Set up CNC milling and lathe machinery to create precision parts according to production requirements and blueprints.
  • Perform tool changes and adjust offsets on CNC equipment to maintain proper machine operation and part quality.
  • Assist with loading raw materials into CNC machines and ensure materials are correctly positioned for machining.
  • Complete quality inspections using micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify that parts meet specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to understand machining requirements and assembly details.
  • Support fabrication and assembly tasks, including wiring and crimping wires after feeding them through components.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively during production and assembly operations.
  • Follow written and verbal directions accurately to meet production goals and quality standards.
  • Use basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, to record production information and access work instructions as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including regular cleaning of workstations and equipment.
  • Adhere to workplace safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe production environment.
  • Collaborate with team members and shift personnel to support continuous production and meet deadlines.
Essential Skills
  • At least 2 years of experience operating CNC machinery, including CNC mills and CNC lathes.
  • Ability to set up CNC machines and perform tool changes and offsets.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics for part machining and assembly.
  • Hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools in a production or general labor environment.
  • Experience in fabrication, assembly, and working with CNC machines.
  • Assembly experience, including wiring tasks and following detailed instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate machining, wiring, and quality inspection.
  • Sufficient hand strength to crimp wires after feeding them through components.
  • Basic computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to follow directions and work safely in a production setting.
  • Comfort working with measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Manual machining experience is a plus.
  • Completion of CNC schooling or trade school programs related to machining or manufacturing is preferred.
  • Experience in general production, fabrication, and assembly environments.
  • Familiarity with production workflows and quality control processes.

Work Environment

The work environment is a very clean, temperature-controlled production facility that supports consistent comfort throughout the day. Employees work with CNC milling and lathe machinery, hand tools, power tools, and standard measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges. The role involves standing, handling materials, and performing detailed assembly and wiring tasks. Work hours are structured in two shifts: 1st Shift runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and 2nd Shift runs Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with multiple openings on each shift. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organized workstations.

This is a Contract position based out of Hawarden, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $37.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
