Job Description

The Brake Press Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining press brake machines to bend, form, and shape metal parts according to specifications. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to read blueprints, and a strong commitment to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate press brake machines (CNC and/or manual).
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders.
  • Select appropriate tooling, dies, and materials for each job.
  • Measure and inspect finished parts to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Make machine adjustments to meet dimensional tolerances.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Document production data and report issues or defects.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Proficiency in using tools such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Experience in machine operating and setup, particularly with press brakes.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in fabrication.
  • Familiarity with CNC and manual press brake operations.

Work Environment

The work environment is characterized by a historic building with ample natural light, dating back to 1906. Employees work 1st shift hours from 5:00am - 1:30pm, Monday to Friday, with the possibility of Saturday work when needed. The environment can be variable in temperature, from hot to cold depending on the season, with fans and open doors in the summer. Cold drinks and frozen treats are provided during warmer months

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockford, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
