Job Description
The Team Leader oversees a team of 4–8 employees in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, ensuring that productivity, quality, safety, and attendance standards are consistently met. This role serves as the primary link between team members and Group Leaders, providing regular updates on performance, production progress, and workplace concerns. The Team Leader also collaborates closely with Maintenance to communicate equipment issues, recognize recurring machine breakdowns, and support efficient troubleshooting, while fostering a positive and accountable team culture.
Responsibilities- Lead, coach, and support a team of 4–8 employees in daily production activities to meet productivity and quality goals.
- Monitor employee performance, attendance, productivity, and adherence to quality standards, providing feedback and corrective guidance as needed.
- Communicate team performance, staffing needs, and operational updates clearly and regularly to Group Leaders.
- Ensure employees follow work instructions, quality requirements, safety practices, and company policies at all times.
- Assist with onboarding and training new team members, ensuring they understand processes, expectations, and safety procedures.
- Promote a safe, productive, and positive work environment by addressing issues promptly and reinforcing best practices.
- Operate production machinery as needed and support team members with machine operation tasks.
- Identify, document, and report equipment malfunctions to the Maintenance team in a timely and detailed manner.
- Recognize recurring machine issues and provide clear information on what the machine was doing before and during breakdowns to assist with troubleshooting.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives on the production floor by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, efficiency, and quality.
- Participate in problem-solving efforts to reduce downtime, improve workflow, and strengthen team performance.
- Hold production associates accountable for meeting expectations and, when necessary, address performance or behavior concerns in a professional manner.
- Collaborate across departments to ensure smooth production flow and effective communication of operational priorities.
- Previous leadership, lead, or supervisory experience preferred, particularly in a production or manufacturing setting.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and hold team members accountable in a fair and professional manner.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey expectations and feedback.
- Solid organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in learning industrial equipment and production processes.
- Ability to identify equipment issues and effectively communicate technical concerns and observations to Maintenance.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing or factory environment.
- Willingness and ability to work night shift and perform overtime as needed.
- Comfort with machine operation and production activities.
- Commitment to promoting safety, quality, and adherence to company policies.
- Experience in machine operation within a production or factory environment.
- Exposure to continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancement activities.
- Experience disciplining or coaching production associates in a structured and respectful manner.
- Ability to learn unique production machinery over time and recognize common breakdown patterns.
- No specific industry or machinery background required; willingness to learn facility-specific equipment is highly valued.
- Interest in developing toward higher-level production leadership roles, such as production supervisor.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a factory/production environment that is not climate controlled, so temperatures may vary with the seasons. You will work around industrial machinery and production equipment, supporting machine operation and collaborating closely with both production and Maintenance teams. The setting is fast-paced and hands-on, with frequent interaction on the production floor and regular coordination across departments. The position requires comfort with night shift work and the flexibility to work overtime as production demands require. Appropriate work attire should be suitable for a manufacturing setting, supporting safety and readiness to engage in physical, on-floor activities.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Frankfort, KY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
