Job Title: General Production Worker / Edger Operator

Job Description

This role supports daily manufacturing operations on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM. You will set up and operate edging equipment, select and verify materials, perform in-process inspections, and ensure that all finished products meet customer specifications and quality standards. You will contribute to a safe, efficient, and high-quality production environment while working closely with teammates and following established procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor edging equipment and other production machinery according to work instructions and safety guidelines.
  • Select, verify, and stage materials required for each production run, ensuring accuracy against work orders and specifications.
  • Perform in-process inspections and quality checks using precision measuring instruments to confirm products meet customer specifications and internal standards.
  • Troubleshoot basic equipment issues, make minor adjustments, and escalate complex problems to appropriate personnel to minimize downtime.
  • Complete production-related documentation accurately, including recording measurements, counts, and inspection results.
  • Handle general production tasks such as assembly, packaging, and material handling as needed to support overall manufacturing output.
  • Use hand tools and other basic equipment safely and effectively during setup, adjustment, and finishing operations.
  • Assist with general labor and warehouse-related activities, including organizing materials and maintaining orderly work areas.
  • Operate forklifts or other material-handling equipment if qualified and as needed to move products and materials within the facility.
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe machine operation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by regularly cleaning workstations, removing debris, and supporting 5S or similar initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding production status, quality concerns, and equipment issues.
  • Work overtime and weekends as needed to meet production demands and customer delivery requirements.
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality to support consistent production schedules.

Essential Skills

  • Prior manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred, including exposure to general production, assembly, or machine operating environments.
  • Ability to set up and operate production machinery, including edging equipment, with strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience or capability in general labor, production, and packaging tasks in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments accurately, such as calipers, micrometers, or gauges, to perform in-process inspections.
  • Strong math aptitude, including working confidently with fractions and decimals for measurements and calculations.
  • Ability to read and interpret measurements and apply them correctly to ensure product quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Good communication skills to interact effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other departments.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality, with a demonstrated history of consistent work habits.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage tasks, materials, and documentation efficiently.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn new equipment, processes, and procedures.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed to support production demands.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience operating forklifts or other material-handling equipment in a production or warehouse environment.
  • Hands-on experience with hand tools and basic mechanical tools used in manufacturing or assembly.
  • Background in general production, warehouse operations, or manufacturing environments.
  • Comfort working with machine operation, packaging, and assembly processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Capability to maintain focus and attention to detail while performing repetitive tasks.
  • Willingness to cross-train in multiple production tasks to support overall team flexibility.

Work Environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Southington, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
