Job Description
This role focuses on the visual and dimensional inspection of stamped metal parts to ensure they meet precise quality standards. You will use measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers to verify part accuracy, identify defects, and collaborate closely with the quality engineer to resolve quality issues in a high-volume metal stamping environment.
Responsibilities- Perform thorough visual inspections of stamped metal parts to identify defects, damage, or irregularities.
- Conduct manual dimensional inspections using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools to verify part accuracy against specifications.
- Stand for the majority of the shift while inspecting parts and monitoring quality throughout the production process.
- Document inspection results clearly and accurately to support traceability and continuous improvement efforts.
- Communicate inspection findings promptly to the quality engineer and production team to address nonconformances.
- Work closely with the quality engineer to identify recurring issues and contribute to corrective and preventive actions.
- Follow established quality control procedures and inspection standards to maintain consistent product quality.
- Handle parts safely and efficiently to prevent damage and ensure consistent throughput.
- Support general labor tasks related to inspection and quality control as needed to meet production demands.
- Adapt to varying workloads by completing assigned inspections during 8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts as required.
- Hands-on experience using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools for dimensional inspection.
- Background in quality control or quality inspection within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Ability to perform detailed visual inspections and recognize defects in stamped metal parts.
- Comfort standing for extended periods and working in a production setting.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when recording measurements and inspection results.
- Effective communication skills to relay quality issues to the quality engineer and production personnel.
- Reliability and willingness to work a significant amount of overtime based on production needs.
- Prior experience in metal stamping or metal fabrication environments.
- Familiarity with large press operations and high-volume manufacturing.
- Experience collaborating with quality engineers or quality teams to resolve issues.
- General labor experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.

Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a metal stamping facility that operates very large presses, including equipment up to 3,000 tons. You will work on the production floor, standing for most of your shift while inspecting stamped metal parts. The environment is industrial and fast-paced, with active machinery and high-volume output. There are two positions available on first shift, starting at 7:00 a.m., and two positions available on second shift, starting at 3:15 p.m. Inspectors on both shifts may work 8-, 10-, or 12-hour days, depending on workload, and must be willing to work a significant amount of overtime. Appropriate industrial attire and safety gear are expected to support safe work around large presses and metal components.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $15.50 - $15.50/hr.
