Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The Maintenance Technician plays a key role in keeping high-volume foodservice production operations running safely and efficiently. This role focuses on performing preventative and predictive maintenance on a variety of packaging and processing equipment, with approximately 80% of the work being mechanical and 20% electrical. You will work on production lines, conveyor systems, cappers, fillers, labelers, palletizing equipment, boilers, waste water systems, and other critical components used to produce flavors, syrups, sauces, creams, and related products.
Responsibilities- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on production lines, conveyor systems, cappers, fillers, labelers, palletizing equipment, boilers, waste water systems, and other vital components.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and complete repairs to minimize downtime and maintain safe, efficient operation of all equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair 480 Volt electrical systems, including AC/DC motor drives, ensuring reliable performance and adherence to safety standards.
- Work extensively on mechanical components such as rollers, belts, bushings, bearings, and gear boxes, replacing and adjusting parts as needed.
- Read and interpret schematics and blueprints to identify issues, plan repairs, and guide installation or modification of equipment.
- Maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in production and packaging equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair pumps, including identifying causes of failures and implementing corrective actions.
- Support packaging, bottling, and filling operations by ensuring equipment is set up correctly, properly maintained, and quickly repaired when issues arise.
- Assist with maintenance and basic operation of boilers and compressors to support plant utilities.
- Perform general maintenance and mechanical tasks across the facility as needed to support continuous production.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage in accordance with facility procedures.
- Collaborate with production and operations teams to schedule maintenance work and communicate equipment status.
- Follow all safety procedures, use appropriate personal protective equipment, and help maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
- At least 5 years of experience in maintenance, mechanical, or industrial equipment repair in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience working with 480 Volt electrical systems.
- Proficiency with AC/DC motor drives, including the ability to troubleshoot and repair motor drive issues.
- Strong mechanical skills with experience working on rollers, belts, bushings, bearings, gear boxes, and similar components.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints accurately.
- Experience working with hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
- Experience working with pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
- Demonstrated ability to perform maintenance and troubleshooting on packaging, bottling, and filling equipment.
- Solid troubleshooting skills for both mechanical and electrical issues in a production environment.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Background in the food, flavor, beverage, and/or packaging industry.
- Knowledge of boilers and compressors, including basic operation and maintenance.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing pumps in a production environment.
- Any additional education or formal training in maintenance, mechanics, electrical, or related fields is highly regarded.
- Experience working in high-speed packaging or bottling operations.
- Ability to work effectively on both mechanical and electrical tasks, with flexibility to support different areas of the plant.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a production facility that manufactures flavors, syrups, sauces, creams, and related products for the foodservice and packaging industry. You will work around high-speed production lines, conveyor systems, bottling and filling equipment, and various utility systems such as boilers, compressors, and waste water treatment equipment. The position follows a rotating night shift schedule: Monday–Thursday and Friday–Monday, switching every 30 days, with working hours from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The dress code requires jeans or work pants without holes, a solid t-shirt and/or polo shirt (preferably without buttons or snaps), safety glasses, and steel toe boots; uniforms are provided after an initial period. The environment is industrial and fast-paced, with a strong emphasis on safety, use of appropriate personal protective equipment, and adherence to maintenance procedures to keep equipment operating reliably.
